The police station over the road once provided much of the Ladbroke’s clientele. Now this gastropub is better known for its floral displays (the beer garden at the front is wildly colourful). Despite the smart dining section at the rear (and a wine list to match), the place does still draw in low-key middle-aged locals to enjoy a pint – Doom Bar from Cornwall’s Sharp’s brewery, perhaps, or Adnams Broadside. The well-upholstered, carpeted interior and efficient air-conditioning add to the sense of grown-up quality.
