This honest little boozer diagonally opposite Charing Cross Post Office brings in blokey regulars who like to mull over the racing form. Apart from the engaging company, attractions include a wide range of interesting ales (Arundel Sussex Gold, Sharp's Eden, Bishop's Tipple, Harveys Best, Black Sheep) and white china dishes of award-winning sausages by O'Hagan's (including venison with redcurrant and pork and bitter) sizzling in a pot near the beer taps. Obscure portraits and ill-matched paintings are offset by the careful blue-and-green glazed harp motifs in the window.
