A tidy gastronomic operation on a quiet corner near Regent's Park. Most of the patrons at this light-flooded, converted Victorian pub come for the food, though the place does also get busy with after-work drinkers during the week. A daily menu of eight starters and eight mains, served in the ground floor bar or the grander first floor dining room, runs the gamut of gastropub favourites from pumpkin soup to pan-fried salmon, and a 20-strong selection of tapas includes many Middle Eastern standards. The 40 wines on the list begin with a basic El Muro from La Mancha (£3.10 for a glass, £12 the bottle) and run up to a Meursault Domaine Michelet burgundy (£45). By contrast, the range of beers on tap is slightly disappointing: there's Löwenbräu, Marston's Pedigree and San Miguel.

Dear Madam I am currently living in New Cross and studying for a MA at Goldsmiths, and hopefully a PHD next year (music/sociology). I have been in...
Went to the Q & A yesterday, and the barmaid was too busy chewing a straw and looking sour to serve us, so we waited 3 min for someone else to notice us at the bar. We then got our drinks cranberry juice with no ice - I wasn't asked wether I wanted it or not - nasty olives and hummus with absolutely no flavour. Can't say what the restaurant is like, but with that staff and those bar snack I most certainly will not be coming back.
