Bars & Pubs

  • Temperance

  • The Temperance exudes a welcoming calm from its large, dark wood interior. Wine is the top drink, with a range that includes a humble Portuguese Santo Isidro de Pegões (£3.60/£13.50) and a Red Dot shiraz viognier (£24); but there's also Greene King IPA, Adnams, Leffe and San Miguel on tap. Standard tapas (three for £10) are available, but most people come for the five-strong starter and ten-strong main menus, the former offering rabbit terrine (£5.50) and merguez sausage (£5.95), the latter baked darne of Scottish salmon (£11.50) and duck-leg confit (£11.50). Specials include cassoulet (£12.50) on Wednesdays and boeuf bourguignon (£10.95) on Thursdays.

The food here is extremely disappointing and overpirced. £8.50 for 6 tiny bits of scampi was a rip off. Such a shame as has the potential to be a great pub- actual space is great though I will not be returning.
