  • Landlord Michael Tierney's obsession with British history and the royal family manifests itself in this absurd pub, apparently popular with every minor celebrity you can think of. Did Joe Brown, Keith Chegwin and Dennis Waterman come here, see the laughably bad portrait of Prince Charles with a huge poppy and decide they should dish out autographs, or did Tierney buy their signed pictures with the china sets and Toby jugs? In any case, beers (Bombardier, Wadworth 6X, Adnams) have an unsurprisingly British bent, although the food is pub Thai and there's a German Blue Max Liebfraumilch (£3.30/£12) on the wine list. The fantastic Handlebar [moustache] Club has its monthly meeting here.
