A former hotel, the 'Birky' offers a large public bar, a smaller room at the front with a pool table and a garden, plus a bustling but never intimidating demeanour. There's a rotating line-up of guest beers from the likes of Mighty Oak, Archers and Weltons, though you won't find much in the way of food to wash it down. You don't need to be a Leyton Orient fan to drink here, but if you are then you're guaranteed to find a fellow sufferer to discuss the team's travails over a pint of 'Rita Special', named after a previous landlady.

The best pub in East London bar none. Was used as the interior shot for the carlsberg advert with the old england team..
