Bars & Pubs

  • Loungelover

  • Owned by the same concern as the feted Les Trois Garçons restaurant around the corner, this famously louche cocktail lounge may have had some of its thunder stolen by neighbourhood newcomer, Beach Blanket Babylon. Tasteful, low-lit decadence is still the decor key, with distressed wooden armoires, hot-house plants, vintage palm-frond chandeliers, a stuffed hippo's head, man-sized Chinese urns, antlers made of red, mirrored mosaic, a giant disco ball and tea lights set on elegant, glass-topped tables establishing a unique, upmarket ambience. Chinese-print-covered menus list cocktails by genre (Hot Lover, Old Flame [house specialties], First Love [classic mixes], Sweeties) and average around £9, while a glass of champagne is £8, but watch out for the 12.5% service charge added to your bill. It may be slightly pretentious, but staff are helpful to the cocktail-confused and if you're out to impress, the place can hardly be bettered.

A really great bar with a very nice ambience. Walking into Loungelover transported me into another part of the world. The clientele are as mixed as the interiors, even the staff seem to be a wide cross section of origins. They were very helpful and kindly talked me through their huge cocktail list. The music was at the right level allowing us to converse easily and comfortably. I am sick at having to shout to be heard at some venues. It was a really interesting music choice too. The attentive staff made sure we did not have too long a wait for the drinks eventhough they were really packed, in fact they came to us couples of times throughout the night to inform us that the drinks were on the way, which i thought was such a nice gesture. We all agreed that Loungelover is one of the best bar in London. Will make the effort to come across london to this venue.

Great bar with a fab ambience. The staff are really clued up about their cocktail list, which is pretty extensive and interesting. We had really yummy tasting plates of Japanese snacks. The interiors is a talking point. A great mish mash of periods that shouldn't work together some how works incredibly well together. Probably the best bar experience we had in the last 5 years.

Been going here since it opened and it has pretty much stayed the same. Have never booked for drinks but have always tried to go early, good points and bad, bar snacks over priced and tiny, good points main meals are quite good, and the cocktails are amazing, gets really crowded at wkends, its Shoredtich so they do try and squeeze everyone in which can be a hassle but it gets so noisy that you can't really hear other people talking.Always found the service good on the door and the bar tenders really good, although I hear they are one of those places that make up the minumum wage with tips, no wonder they charge 12.5%, even when you are standing right next to the bar and all they have to do is pass it over!! Great for a first date early eve during the week, but would prob avoid Fri/Sat nights late, is a bit to chilled to stay all night so go for one before you go on to somewhere a bit more fun as it can be a bit to downtempo with everyone looking around at each other instead of having fun.

Terrible place. Terrible service. After being overcharged, the manager still tried to charge their 12.5% service charge! Avoid this pretentious dive. The decor cannot make up for the awful atmosphere, and arrogant staff member.
    AVOID

Fabulous interior full of surprises, great drinks served by knowledgeable staff who demonstrate true style. Really cocktail of people from the local art, fashion and film scene to the city slickers and West End adventurers ........the place just works!

Great place for a fun night out. The staff here are really friendly and knowledgable. From the minute we entered the place we were bombarded with one visual sensation after another. This was where the trend for maximalism started and now copied worldwide. Such an array of differnt styles under one roof and it all just seems to work side by side. There are a lot of clever and witty concoctions.
The drinks list is pretty impressive and innovative. The cocktails are truly delicious. We had some really tasty snacks to go with the drinks.
Everything we had were really fresh and yummy. Its all so beautifully presented that you can feel there has been a lot of love and thought that has gone into it. I really think this one of the best bar in London.
We all left really happy and could not thank the staff enough for making it such a pleasant evening. We will be heading back there soon with another set of friends.

There is only one word for this place: Ludicrous.
It was a total embarrassment for me as with me were 3 guests who are used to world class venues and can definitely understand the difference between a top notch spot and a purely pretentious one.
Judge yourself: when I booked I have been asked for my credit card number. I have traveled the world and I have never ever seen this for a bar/restaurant. At that point I had REALLY huge expectations. Once we spotted the front door in the dark of the alley, we got in and invited to sit down. We were invited to sit at the corner of a Lilliputian table 2 metres away from the main door, that we were sharing with 6 more people, a young couple and 4 blokes. After the waiter brought us the menu, the top of the ridicule was achieved: THAT WAS OUR TABLE for the night, for which my credit card have been used.
Fortunately all my guests laughed at the situation and at the manager that was called and asked to explain. We left immediately.
DO NOT GO if this was the last bar in town.

ok so you have to book to go for a drink which is the first warning sign but hey ho we went through the motions because so many people said this place is great
when we arrived it was early on on a sat evening and was very quiet with only a couple of seats taken in the main bar areas and yet we were ushered into this strange and unpleasant little side room and parked at the same miniscule table as two women who were hereto enjoying themselves. silence ensued as we all became desperately uncomfortable with the silence and proximity in an otherwise empty and quiet bar. staff were indifferent and rude when asked if we could spread out. therefore we just left without ordering and to be honest the decor wasnt all that - no style no substance- and neither was the drinks list. AVOID.

Really loved this place. The smiley welcome was a nice surprise as thats quite rare these days in popular haunts. The interior is jaw dropping in a lovely warm way, not at all garish or trying too hard. It looks like it just evolved over time. There's giant vases, diamante cladded stag heads and to die for chandeliers. The cocktails are divine and have great names. The japanese bites are really tasty and a great compliment to the cocktails. The waiters are really pleasant and efficient. Will be back soon with loads of friends.

Really refreshing to find a place with smiles and happy people working in a cool unpretentious place. Lounge lover is the ultimate bar for me as its all about glamour and amazing cocktails. The decor is really original and there are many copycats out there now as this bar is over 5 years old and there many new ones in the area jumping on the band wagon. Lounge lover is what london is truly about , a melange of cultures and tastes. Great place.
