On one of central London’s last remaining terraces of Victorian workers’ cottages, this corner pub is now firmly on the tourist map, but also remains a firm favourite with locals and loud office workers. In the same hands as the Windmill and the Ring nearby, it’s more traditional than either, with separate public and saloon bars (both very cosy and convivial in winter) and an unusual conservatory at the back where Thai meals are served. A recent refurb hasn’t detracted from the charm of the place, though much of the decor is generic pub knick-knackery. Beers include Pride, Bombardier and Adnams’ gimmicky Spindrift; the wine list is predominantly New World.

This pub is fantastic! Great atmosphere, staff, beer and food. All in a lovely setting.
Definitely will be back soon.
This is pub is hugely disappointing. I have been a regular customer in the past as it's convenient and serves relatively cheap and decent food but one thing I have never been comfortable with is the unbelievable rudeness of the staff. They are, in general, haughty, miserable and argumentative and have no care or concern for customer service. At first this used to amuse us in a I-wonder-if-we-can-get-a-smile-out-of-the-staff-tonight kind of way. But when the bar staff ignore you, carelessly push customers out of the way and refuse to fill your pint of beer to the brim (after knocking a large portion of it out from the glass) unless you pay for it I began to wonder...why should this sort of behavior deserve our custom? Well, it does not. No pub is too nice to warrant that pathetic level of service. I shall gladly take my business elsewhere and I suggest you do the same unless you enjoy your bitter...bitter.
