City envy: we want an IMAX spin studio like New York

Anyone who's ever been to a hardcore spin class will know the true meaning of pain. But there is a school of thought that says if you take people's minds off pain, you can kind of make them forget it's there. Which, we guess, is the logic behind New York's latest gym innovation: IMAXShift.

This cycling studio with a difference opened in Brooklyn earlier this month and offers fitness nuts the chance to pedal their hearts out in front of a massive (40' by 24'), curved cinema screen that displays immersive graphics ranging from lush rainforest to outer space. The studio offers 55 classes a week, from beginner to intermediate, and promises to take riders from the front of [the] saddle to the edge of reality. Could your local Fitness First make that claim? We think not. Just leave the popcorn at home.

New York has all the fun - they also have a floating food forest and a pizza box made out of pizza (!)
