This is not a drill. Ryan Gosling could have been cast in 'Gilmore Girls'. The A-list actor auditioned for a role back in the old days of the 'Gilmore Girls', but failed to book the gig.

Apparently he was late for his audition. Maybe his car was hit by a deer. Maybe he was attacked by a swan. Maybe his Pop Tart got stuck in the toaster. Either way, his tardiness and an audition that 'fell flat' resulted in him never stepping foot in Stars Hollow and never crossing paths with Rory or Lorelai.

The star of 'The Notebook' and upcoming Oscar hopeful 'La La Land' was auditioning for the role of 'a football character', casting director Jami Rudofsky has revealed

Oh, what could have been. Gosling might have ended up as one of Rory's admirers. And he would have been in good company. A number of soon-to-be big Hollywood actors appeared in the much-loved series over the years, from Melissa McCarthy to Jon Hamm, Seth MacFarlane and Adam Brody.

If the powers that be want to give Gosling another chance and shoehorn him into Netflix's 'A Year in the Life' that's okay with us. In fact, to quote the lovely Luke Danes, we are ALL IN.

'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' will be available to stream on Netflix from November 25.
