When one door closes, another one opens. And in this case, it's the door to our favourite new bakery.

'GBBO' star Selasi Gbormittah, who will forever be remembered as the most chilled contestant of all time, missed out on a place in the final during last night's episode of the BBC1 baking competition, becoming the ninth baker to leave the telly tent.

But this is not the end of our love affair with the biker-turned-baker. Oh no. In fact, the fan fave is preparing to share his buns, baps and beautifully piped sponges with us Londoners, by opening a bakery in the city.

'I do love banking but I’m hoping to open a bakery somewhere in west London in the foreseeable future,' he told Radio Times

As if that isn't exciting enough, Selasi also has plans for a book too. 'My immediate adventure however, is a motorbike/baking tour across Europe which I’m currently planning. I hope to share all the recipes I learn in a book,' he added.

We may be a nation in mourning, but at least we don't really have to face a world without Selasi.

'The Great British Bake Off' concludes on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC1.
