Back in May, we reported on a crowdfunding campaign tasked with raising the funds needed to rebuild Peckham’s lost lido. A month and a half on, and dreams of a daily dip are closer to becoming a reality, but there’s still quite a way to go. As it stands, £41,325 of the £65,221 needed to resurrect the 50-metre pool has been raised and the organisers have about a month left to gather the remaining 36 percent.
To help spread the word, they’re hosting an event called Splash Mob on Sunday July 10 and inviting members of the public to don their swimming costumes and grab inflatables for a slip and slide across Peckham Rye Park. There will also be games of rounders to be had, and a community picnic to get stuck into. Back the project via the fundraising page.
