Summer Streets shuts down Regent Street every Sunday this month

For the fourth year running, a series of Summer Streets events is closing one of the capital's busiest roads to make way for bipeds who are partial to a bit of fun. The stretch of Regent Street between Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus will be traffic-free from noon–6pm every Sunday in July and themed differently each week.

The inaugural, garden-themed July 5 event sees butterflies and bees fluttering around a specially constructed bug haven.

The following weekend focuses on health and fitness as the British 10k passes through, so you can comfortably watch the action or get in on some with The Harlequins' free rugby coaching sessions. There'll also be complimentary 20-minute treatments at Hotel Café Royal’s Akasha Spa, in case all the fitness talk gets too much for you.

July 19 celebrates all things fashion with a pop-up catwalk and the final Sunday showcases work by students from the University of Westminster, as well as live installations from local artists. Plus, throughout the series City Academy will be hosting dance classes, covering everything from swing to salsa, Moyses Stevens will run a pop-up floral stand and there will be exclusive weekly offers at all the shops along the street.
