From King’s Cross station to the Reptile House at London Zoo, our city is filled with locations from the world of Harry Potter. With ‘The Cursed Child’ opening in the West End we got our friends at official Potter site Pottermore to help us create the ultimate wizard map of the city. Now grab your broomstick and go explore.
Locations in the books
1. King's Cross station
The location of Platform 9 3⁄4, of course.
2. Tottenham Court Road
After the Death Eaters invade Bill Weasley's wedding, Harry, Ron and Hermione escape here.
3. Charing Cross Road
If you know where to seek it out, you'll find wizardy pub The Leaky Cauldron tucked away here.
4. 'Vauxhall Road'
There isn't a real Vauxhall Road, but in fictional form this is where bad-dude-in-the-making Tom Riddle buys the diary that possesses Ginny Weasley.
Locations from the films
1. King's Cross station
Where the young wizards catch the Hogwarts Express from platform 9 3⁄4.
2. London Zoo Reptile House
On film, it replaces the Surrey zoo where the ten-year-old Harry accidentally sets a giant python loose.
3. Leadenhall Market
This ornate covered market doubles up as Diagon Alley and the entrance to The Leaky Cauldron.
4. Australia House
Oz's diplomatic residence is a stand-in for goblin-run bank Gringotts.
5. St Pancras International
Used to film the exteriors of King's Cross. It's also where the flying Ford Anglia in 'The Chambers of Secrets' is parked.
6. Lambeth Bridge
The Knight Bus squeezes between two London buses on the bridge.
7. 7 Stoney St (Borough Market)
Additional scenes for The Leaky Cauldron were shot on this street.
8. St Paul's Cathedral
Its geometric staircase appears as the staircase to Professor Trelawney's Divination class.
9. Westminster tube station
Where Harry and Arthur go for Harry's Ministry hearing.
10/11. The Thames and Tower Bridge
Anti-Voldemort brigade the Order of the Phoenix swoop across the Thames on broomsticks and over the city's most famous bridge.
12. Claremont Square
This Islington square stands in for Grimmauld Place. Sirius Black's family once lived at number 12.
13. Scotland Place
The telephone box that is the entrance to the Ministry of Magic is on this street in the film.
14. Millennium Bridge
London's wobbliest structure is made a whole lot wobblier in an attack by a gang of Death Eaters.
15. Piccadilly Circus
In 'The Deathly Hallows', Harry, Ron and Hermione flee to Tottenham Court Road after the Death Eaters invade the wedding, but in the film version they head here.
