The Abbeygate Picture House, Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk is my absolute ideal of what a cinema can aspire to. The ambience is one of welcome, comfort and movie enjoyment. Together with the Bistro associated with the cinema, namely "No.4" which just happens to be their street number in Hatter Street, provides a complete evening out. Very good food, albeit a small menu, providing pre or post movie lunch/supper, and wine & soft drinks can be taken into one of the two auditoria where two seat sofas with scatter cushions or equally comfortable seats await. Parking in Bury is good, with street parking outside the Picturehouse free after 6.00pm. Movie affecionardos will find membership well worthwhile - free tickets to use during the year and discounts on other tickets and food. A visit to meet Pat or Kate is assured to open up a wealth of future cinema experience . . ENJOY!
