Time Out says

Angled as a new space for soaking up music of all shapes and sizes – via a huge collection of vinyl amassaed by the organisers – Spiritland will be holding a three-month residency (lasting until January 2015) at sleek Shoreditch bar and restaurant Merchant's Tavrern. It runs seven days a week and is free to all, which is a bit of a bargain, really, as you can catch some top DJs digging into the vinyl treasure trove. Guest selectors include house and funk brainbox Bill Brewster, Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, Fred Deakin from Lemon Jelly playing a spooked-out Halloween set (Deakin was also kind enough to pick his top Halloween tracks for Time Out – listen to his choices here), techno man Kirk Degiorgio, multi-talented artist and musician – as one half of Seahawks – Pete Fowler, music writer Pete Pahides and many more.

As well as Deakin's Halloween excursion, other themes/events include an exploration of the extensive jazz collection of Marxist historian Eric Hobsbawn, nights dedicated to Lou Reed and Paul Simon, and re-scoring films with new, electronic soundtracks. There's a killer soundsystem installed to relay the oodles of delicious vinyl, and as for genres you can expect to hear – disco, pop, new wave, house, jazz, country, blues, funk, Motown, hip hop... You get the idea. This sounds like an all-round top idea to us.
