No-one quite knew what would happen to 89 Great Eastern Street when the popular East Village club closed suddenly in 2014. Thankfully, in March 2014 Trapeze opened, ensuring that one of Shoreditch's best-loved clubbing spaces didn't go to waste. Trapeze is a two-floor venue with a bar and kitchen up top (themed, as you might guess, around a colourful, twisted circus) and an intimate basement club down below. The house, disco and funk feel of East Village's programming remains a fixture at Trapeze thanks to EV's Stuart Patterson remaining in control of the line-ups, and you can expect to see all manner of top DJs spinning tunes to a crowd that know – and love – their house music. Terry Farley, Marshall Jefferson and Joey Negro have all played sets there, so expect acts of a similarly high calibre to continue setting the scene. Hip hop fans can also get their fix from occasional nights run by prime London beat crew The Doctor's Orders.

Great venue, great music, great drinks. My friend had her 30th here so hired out the top level which had a small private bar - handy. Gradually we all moved downstairs which was absolutely buzzing before I eventually poured myself in to a cab home. Good times.
This is a great all in one venue. It has a really fun cocktail list, good food (think american hot dogs, burgers and platters) and really good music. There were DJs playing in the cocktail bar which got everyone up and dancing after dinner and then we headed down to the club in the basement which was really fantastic house music. We had only planned to pop in for food but ended up staying all night. A great party venue!!
I went here to meet friends the night of the England world cup disappointment. we had some cocktails - happy hour and grabbed some food- taste card - so quids in really. we headed to another venue to meet some others (they were showing the game - apparently a big screen downstairs - i could only see the screen upstairs - but we had arrangements) ..so, we lost! England- we past by and came back in (so not in a great mood) We loved it, we had been given a 241 drinks voucher, boom nice one- instant cheer up. Cool music - a thursday thing by the look of it. We ended up chatting with the dj's- funk, blues, soul stuff and the person who promoted the night and had a good laugh, made some good connections! it turned into a a great night because of the company, the cocktails helped..hic. ha. But- I was surprised this place hadn't had a review. I was showing to someone to recommend a place to go to watch the next game- or general drinking- shimmying on the dance floor. I'd rate it! its a place that will soon be discovered by more.
*and by the way- they way it is decorated is ike the name- trapeze on the ceiling and funky things the drinks are served in- yup- gonna go back many times this summer for sure!
