Stand-up from carefully selected open-mic comics and experienced acts testing new stuff or performing solid-gold sets – all for free five days a week (with a voluntary donation at the end, of course) and a tenner at the weekend. The room gets absolutely rammed, so get down there early if you want to grab a seat. The club's now running seven nights a week. Mondays are improv shows, Tuesday's show features an hour-long solo show or Edinburgh Fringe preview, and Wednesdays and Sundays are new act and new material gigs. Fantastic night! I've never written a review but this was definitely outstanding!
Slightly misleading, it's actually a pay as much as you can afford kind of thing.
That said, I'd happily pay £10-20 for something like that, so it's well worth the 'contribution'.
Went on a sunday, got to see a lot of different acts on stage (some for the first time ever), and had an amazing time. The MC Barry Ferns was brilliant! Next time I'm in London I'll definitely stop by again. Fantastic!
Really a nice evening! : ) I enjoyed and I'll go again in the next days! Thanks a lot for this free opportunity to have fun : )
Properly amazing night. Always packed. Consistently high quality, i always thought this was always the place to go to see good breakthrough acts - but lately some of the the bigger names seem to turn up as well! And free! But be warned, if you aren't early you''ll not get in - they always seem to have to turn some people away.
Angel comedy is a deservedly popular night, it attracts first rate acts and a very friendly crowd. Unsurprisingly it can get very busy, so get there early!
F@#$ing brilliant night, every single time. Great bar, lots of chicks, really great comedians dealing out belly laughs - this isn't a "gig" cos Barry runs a art night.
Went to the Saturday night, luckily I got there early, as they were turning people away. It was excellent. Fantastic energy, great acts, amazing atmosphere. Best comedy night I personally have been to in London. Look out for the plug guy..
An incredible night. A mix of brand new acts and well established stand-ups. Brilliantly hosted. A really fantastic atmosphere.
As well as being a free comedy night, the Angel team is remarkable for their quality of booking, MCing and show running. A gig that stands in stark contrast to many other free shows in London that have more acts than audience members, it is always packed and has a great mixture of familiar faces and brand new talent.
An awesome night that has gone from strength to strength. The inclusivity, ethos and atmosphere championed by it's promoters, hosts and performers have made it the sort of night you need to get there early for if you want to get near the front of the queue.
Last thursday night there was the greatest laugh ! Barry and the performing comedians were excellent ! I'd so recommend this night to anyone wanting a good, very good time !
I'm still flummoxed as to how such a quality comedy night can be in a nice pub, easy to get to, personal chair finding service by host for pregnant ladies, and flipping funny! I feel guilty any Friday night that I don't make it.
A brilliant night every time! I've been lucky enough to get in early and bag a seat up front for several of the varied nights and all of them have been solid gold. Barry Ferns as compere is truly a find and will be doing some form of household word stuff soon or there's no justice in this world. He's far funnier than many of the comedians on tv AND looks like Barry Gibbs love-child...
Fantastic evening. I always enjoy it. I have discovered so many new comedians, as well as being delighted to find old favourites here. Great crowd too. Highly recommended.
I've been to Angel comedy a number of times, both performing and in the audience. The crowds are fantastic. The best comedy I have seen in London, I saw at Angel comedy.
Outstanding. Anyone looking to dip their toe in the London Comedy world need look no further. A joy to attend.
I've performed at Angel Comedy Club a few times and I have to say it's great fun. When the room is rammed, it's one of the best gigs in London and the audience are really up for it. You should definitely go
Angel Comedy is one of my favourites for stand-up nights out. A fantastic atmosphere, always brilliant line-ups, a top MC and it's in a pub for goodness sake, so the beer is literally on tap. Highly recommended.
A cracking night. A commitment to quality that you just don't find among the other free nights and always a lovely atmosphere. Best comedy club in North London.
A truly wonderful evening every single time. Run by some of the most tremendous people in London. You'd be a fool not to go every single night you could.
This place has become my "go to" comedy club over the past couple of years - it's always an awesome night out. They regularly get some of the biggest comedians in the country turning up (seemingly unannounced) to try out new material - unbelievable for a free night.
One of the most reliably entertaining nights in London, comedy or otherwise. There's always a lovely atmosphere from the crowd, and whether you go to the open spots or the big weekend night you're guranteed a lovely night.
Amazing atmosphere! Fridays and Saturdays are the Big Ones, with loads of people being turned away because it's just that popular. But for the true connoisseurs, there's some really interesting things going on through the week: improv on Mondays, and some absolute legends on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I've never felt pressure to put money in the bucket, but I do every time - it's just so worth it! The people who run it put such passion and hard work in, and that comes through on the night. Love it!
Amazing comedy packed into a room In a bustling pub! Line up was great with a real fun energy through the night. Will be back to see how the other nights are.
