  • we're resharing in the hope you mail mr bone and get us the gig.... e-mail address is rcb@destinationevents.com Dear Mr Bone /Mr.Kidd Please find attached a copy letter I have sent out to various Radio Stations,London Tonight,Metro Newspaper,Evening Standard.Independant Newspaper and The Mayor's Office.I and many fellow Scooterists feel very strongly about this matter and would ask you to re-consider your decision not to allow us to participate in the 2013 New Year's Day Parade. I look forward to hearing from you in due course with hopefully good news! Yours Sincerly Martin PRESS RELEASE…PRESS RELEASE…PRESS RELEASE… A Time For Action! Scooterists call for the Mayor of London to have a rethink and to invite them to join the London’s New Year’s Day Parade. Scooterists from London’s thriving scooter scene were good enough for Ray Davies of the Kinks and The Who at the Olympic Closing Ceremony but have been deemed not good enough for the London Mayor’s New Year’s Day Parade, despite being a hit with the crowd at last year’s NYD Parade. Now a band of over 60 scooterists led by The Foresters SC have demanded the Mayor’s office rethink the decision to exclude them from the 2013 event. The Foresters (formed in 1958 and one of London’s oldest scooter clubs) formed part of the parade of gleaming and customised scooters that rode into the Olympic stadium to accompany the Kaiser Chief’s version of The Who’s Pinball Wizard. Last year, they had braved the pouring rain to bring a touch of British culture to the New Year’s Day Parade, a highlight of the London calendar. The scooterists fear that their exclusion from the Parade points to a growing marginalisation of British culture in the Parade. Marching bands have always been a popular part of the parade, however Martin Heath from The Foresters SC, says, “American floats and Marching Bands groups shouldn’t be used to the exclusion of home grown culture”. The scooter scene in London is thriving and ride-outs have become more common sights on London streets. 400 scooters took part in this year’s KickStart season opener ride out from the London Eye to Greenwich, and they’ve also proved to be fantastic fund-raisers for the charity work many scooter groups are involved in. The Foresters are supporters of the Stairway to Heaven Memorial Fund which has been raising money for a permanent monument to the 172 people that died in 1943 when a bomb hit the Bethnal Green Tube station, where people were sheltering from the Blitz. They are also fund raisers for The Help for Hereos ,Whipps Cross Hospital children's unit and various others. Please help us in urging the Mayor’s office to have a rethink and to reverse his decision. Martin F Heath from The Foresters SC is happy to talk about this and/or provide additional photos of the scooterists.
