We’re fond of the warm, welcoming shabbiness of the Rio. A proper community cinema, it shows brilliant flicks, sprinkles the programme with double bills and kids’ films, and has a foyer that’s a no-nonsense place to meet and hang out. Rumours in 2013 that the venue was under threat of closure had fans up in arms.
