Soho's longest running tattoo parlour is also its most rockin' and unpretentious. Nestled in a suitably sleazy alley, every inch of its walls are covered in music memorabilia and rows of vibrant tattoo flashes. Dee Dee Ramone and the Stray Cats used to come here in the ’80s and current owner Darryl Gates continues its sleazy punk legacy, keeping the shop's original fittings and neon sign. Gates has designed tattoos for Vogue photoshoots and films like 'This Is England', but they're also known for their body modification services (genital beading, anyone?) from Iestyn Flye.

I would NOT recommend this place! They guy who does the tattoos is so unbelievably rude. As it was my first tattoo I was a bit nervous, and didn't know a lot about what I was doing. I asked him if we could discuss the best size for the tattoo and if he could do a neater sketch of what I had drawn. He was grumpy, had a go at me for not coming prepared and made me feel so nervous about the whole thing. We finally sat down with the tattoo and I asked whether the tattoo would change over time, like fade etc. It was then he stood up and went "I have a bad feeling about this, I am not doing it. You don't know anything about tattoos."
He wasted my time, was rude and even if it isn't your first tattoo, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Ended up getting mine done at Frith Street Tattoo down the road from them and they were amazing! Go there!
