Margaret Calvert & Jock Kinneir Road Signage, 1965 - Design Museum
Using examples from the museum's collection, this exhibition examines the impact of design on the modern world. The collection, which has been in storage for more than five years, contains pieces ranging from early items of mass manufacture to the latest developments in contemporary design - including the Anglepoise lamp, the original Mini, couture garments, architectural models and road signs. Arranged according to themes such as 'identity', 'manufacturing innovations', 'the digital revolution' and 'lifecycle', the show spotlights how design shapes our lives and contemporary culture, with models, samples, prototypes and drawings demonstration the process from idea to finished product.
