Since 2007 Field Day has slowly become one of London’s very best music festivals, with a consistently excellent booking policy covering the world’s finest alternative acts. The bill regularly incorporates everything from weird pop and indie up-and-comers to underground dance producers and folk musicians.
So far, the 2015 line-up is cracking. Recently reunited shoegaze legends Ride headline on Sunday, with iconic punk poet Patti Smith playing the whole of her classic album ‘Horses’ beforehand and more guitar-bending action by Mac DeMarco, Savages, Hookworms, Diiv and Ducktails. Floor-filling electropop maestro Caribou tops the bill on Saturday, leading a host of envelope-pushing artists including FKA Twigs, Todd Terje, Kindness, Tune-Yards, Chet Faker and Owen Pallett.
Can the rest of this year’s two-day line-up rival last year’s? And, almost as importantly, will the sun shine on Victoria Park once again? We’re crossing all our fingers and toes for a big fat ‘yes’ to both.
