Built as a cinema after World War I, the TARDIS-like, multi-floored Scala stages an agreeably broad range of indie, electronica, hip hop and folk, and is a frequent destination for one-off superparties. Its chilly air-con isn't rivalled anywhere in London - but the cheesy ballads of the Ultimate Power night are anything but cool. You can also check out rock, metal and punk at Freedom or the University of Dub.
