Jazz, funk, swing and soul club Hideaway won Venue of the Year in the 2011 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. They've recently opened a free Sunday jazz cafe (from 12pm) hosted by fine pianist Janette Mason. As well as live music, the venue has a lively comedy programme, adding to the venue's welcoming and laid back atmosphere.

Streatham's answer to Ronnie Scott's an underground jazz bar with one of the best line-ups of international soul, funk, jazz and blues performers from all over the world. Entry is extremely reasonable considering the calibre of acts who never cease to surprise me as a regular. Performances are always fun, awe-inspiring and varied, accompanied by a great affordable food and drink menu.

Streatham's very own gem! This place is such a treat! I go on Mondays for the jamming sessions and intend to take up some salsa classes in the future. There is so much going on, and for a reasonable price, that you will never be stuck for something to do. The staff are incredibly friendly and really want to create a community vibe by encouraging you to get involved as much as they can. Love this place!

Nipped over to The Hideaway last night and caught the last set of the fabulous Ray Gelato band. I love the club & really enjoyed my cocktail. Could only be made better if there was a bit of dancing.

Love the jazz club, groups from the West End and beyond, great cocktails and food. Brilliant atmosphere. Comedy club is also great fun and Sunday brunch with live pianist is a great start to a Sunday. Always made to feel very welcome.

Underrated. A hidden gem, tucked behind the Jazz Cafe on the High Road, opposite Streatham station, this place is like an Aladdin's cave that you really weren't expecting... nicely designed interiors, several 'rooms', good food and bar and excellent acts, both musical and comedy...niiice.

A great little spot in the middle of a not great area.

Hideaway is split between the cafe/restaurant part on the roadside and the highly rated jazz bar downstairs at the back. Both are definitely worth a visit as the food is immense and the music in the jazz bar attracts some big names in the industry.

The cafe is open all day serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the staff are great as well. The menu does change quite frequently so try a few things over multiple visits to avoid disappointment. The Chorizo Burger was a stand out for me as well as the Lamb Tagine and the cocktail selection is very good for the location.

The jazz bar is immense and we got to see Russell Howard from the front row as part of a charity event which was amazing. Some of the jazz acts include CIYO Brown and Atlantic Soul Orchestra, with the Monday Night Jam Sessions and Comedy Clubs also worth a visit.

Shame it's in Streatham, not the most ideal location for such a cool venue.
