  • terrine service, rude staff & the food is ok but over priced. My advice, go for High St North a mile away where it's half the price, better service & above the mainly South Indian food is much better :)

  • I was really pleased to see a vegetarian restaurant on a recent visit down green street with my husband. But I was very dissapointed with our experience here and I wouldn't go back again. It was a quiet evening in the restaurant with only a few other diners so we were hoping our food would come quickly as we were hungry after a long day shopping, unfortunately that wasn't the case. Firstly I ordered a soft drink for myself and my husband ordered a glass of sweet lassi. I was eventually brought a can of drink but my husband was never brought his drink and after another 20 minutes of waiting I had to enquire as to where it was and was told I hadn't ordered one for him despite the waiter reading it back to me when he took our order. After another 10 minutes he got his drink and about 50 minutes after ordering we got our food which wasn't even hot. 2 of the dishes we ordered we never received and one that was brought out was incorrect. But after waiting so long we decided not to bother chasing up the missing dishes. The thali we ordered on recommendation of the waiter for us to share contained only a few tiny portions, not enough for one person but cost nearly £10. So by the time we left we were still hungry, £25 down and wondering how they manage to get by with such poor service and bland mediocre food. I expected this to be a well priced restaurant with tasty home cooked style food but it was bland boring and over priced for the quality and portion size.

  • Time out, you've done badly here- this is an amazing restaurant. Granted, not your glamorous venue, but you clearly ordered the wrong things. Foolish. This place is famous for its chilli paneer- outstanding, and also kachori, potato bhajia, chaat and so on. Outstanding restaurant, great valuem never disappointed

  • Amitas is a terrible restaurant. the sweets aren't fresh and the coke i ordered was flat. the waiter refused to change it for another one. the menu is over priced and the food is not spectacular. the food does not taste so great, rather bland to be honest. it is spacious for the area and the colour scheme looks nice but i would not say its a great restaurant. its more of a indian sweet shop which happens to have tables and a menu. if you want vegetarian food then prehaps try another place. gujrati food but everything is so sweet, even the masala dosa had sugar in it.

  • The special thali hit and miss? Not true. It's excellent, as are the other thalis at Amitas, and for the price extremely good value. Very good quality dosas, varied and interesting starters, chinese style dishes, you don't have to spend a lot to eat well here. Terrific vegetarian family run restaurant serving Gujurati home cooking. An east end gem, I eat there regularly. Oh yes, and th staff are a delight.
