An awkward, rather stuffy dining area with communal table and bar stools means the pavement spots are most coveted at this bakery-café. The lunch menu features the likes of organic topside beef marinated in fresh herbs and red wine, and tamarind-marinated chargrilled poussin, but you could opt for a savoury muffin or tart from the shop counter. Bitter Musetti coffee tends to be a style you like or don’t, but even so our cappuccino was poor, the foam deflating quickly to a sludge resembling washing-up liquid.

Baker & Spice is one of those places that has AMAZING food that somehow seems to cost an astronomical price but you kind of don't mind :-) Elizabeth Street is perfection with small, specialist artisan shops including DONNA IDA, Peggy Porschen and Jo Loves. The outside seating is a premium - PEOPLE WATCHING HEAVEN! Inside there's long tables - every so slightly tightly packed. My one negative is the service - it is really hit and miss and can be frustrating. I like their selection of desserts though - and bonus it is easy to order to takeaway!

This adorable little deli is an absolute treat. If you are ever stuck in/ around Victoria station for a few hours (why, I don't know) then take a hop, skip and a jump to Elizabeth Street and loosen the buckle on your belt. They have the yummiest array of salads on offer and I would recommend my speciality - a bit of everything.
