If you missed Oktoberfest this year, don't worry too much because the Bavarian Beerhouse is open all year, offering a constant beer-festival revelry in an authentic beer hall atmosphere. While dancing on the benches and trying to finish your first stein - that's two pints - before everyone else in you party is not compulsory, it certainly sets the right mood. Every day at the Bavarian Beerhouse, in Old Street or Tower Hill, is a celebration of everything cheery, good-natured and fun. Or was that supposed to be beery? I recommend you stick to the delicious Kaltenberg, or Erdinger if you prefer variety, but the option for a glass of wine (which looks very odd on the giant hall tables) or, much later in the evening, a shot of Porno Brause. That's vodka and sherbet and is much harder to drink than it sounds. If you're there as part of a big party - and that is the best way to do it - then order a Jägertrain of 10 Jäger shots in a line that drop into glasses of Red Bull like dominoes...

One of two branches of the UK's only German-themed pub chain, Bavarian Beerhouse offers a variety of German food and drink. The drinks menu includes wines, schnaps and beers served in traditional steins, while food ranges from bratwursts and pretzels to potato dumplings and even suckling pig (for which, book in advance).
