Bel Canto offers classic French cuisine (there’s a sister restaurant in Paris) with a musical twist – the waiting staff are also classically trained opera singers and burst into song every 15 minutes. Dishes are selected from the three-course Lyric Menu (£42), with trad dishes such as pan-fried foie gras and prime beef fillet. Decor is suitably theatrical; the place looks like a cross between an auditorium and a luxury cruise ship, complete with velvet curtains and a red carpet. The musical menu is based around mainstream opera favourites such as Carmen and The Marriage of Figaro; audience participation is also encouraged.
