My housemates and I were all celebrating our birthdays within weeks of each other, so we thought it would be nice to splurge on a nice grown-up meal together instead of faffing about with presents. Grub club were doing an offer for the cordon bleu one off pop up experience with 4 courses (importantly with matching wines) for £45 each which we decided to give a go! We got a little tour of the hallowed chef featured walls and then seated in a room and table with others for mingling. The Michelin chefs were a stones throw away giving the atmosphere a bit of a buzz and the food was great...a mix between a pop up and a supper club! Over the courses we had ceviche, king prawns, lamb and a trio of desserts...one being a mushroom sticky toffee pudding - different and actually quite tasty in a weird way. They even had props for photos with the chefs...one being a master chef finalist. A great way to spend a weekday evening which seemed value for money and didn't leave me hitting up the McDonald's on the way home.

Visited here and was, sadly, rather disappointed. The location is quite lovely, hidden away in Pied Bull Yard. On a sunny afternoon, it's a great - and not super crowded - spot to have lunch. Unfortunately, the menu is rather bare, mainly just sandwiches, salads and soups. There was nothing really wrong with the food, it tasted fine, but it was just fairly basic. I could have gotten an equally good sandwich from Pret or a meal deal from Sainos. Perhaps my expectations were just too high? But, knowing of the "Cordon Bleu" fame, I just thought the food would be something more innovative and tasty. Have to say as well, unfortunately, the dessert I got - the 'Opera' cake was quite dry. Won't be going again.

The cafe is a really nice and "hidden" in pied bull yard. The food is the finest you will get in the area, and the cafe is actually linked to the famous Le Cordon Bleu school of culinary arts, no wonder the food is so fabulous...
