I have been coming for years, for business meetings, dates, birthdays and most recently a hen party. I love the concept, and have done clay, lego robots, pimp your sunglasses, face painting and more on my various trips! The only negative is that sometimes the service feels slow (as I've often only been allowed table service, so you have to wait) but even that isn't enough to keep me away! Last weekend we also boogied away downstairs for the first time, and loved the music choices. Woohoo.

This café, open daytimes through evenings, is decked out in a girly nostalgia chic with retro furniture that’s for sale. It is a popular venue for private parties, hen do's and the like.
The café menu’s simple, and limited: sandwiches, tarts, salads, cheese and charcuterie boards. Much effort is made with the pastries, which are displayed on the counter. The selection of teas is excellent, presented in pretty teacups.
In the evenings alcoholic drinks (some with punning names) come into their own: the 'Corrrr… what a pear' consists of spiced rum, lime and apple juice muddled with fresh pear.
There are many events held here, mostly crafts- and dance-oriented. Some are unusual to say the least, such as ‘play with clay Scream’: the opportunity to recreate Munch's famous painting in ceramic.

I brought a gaggle of ladies here for a friend's hen do last weekend, and it was so very lovely. The venue itself is great, and the service was wonderful. Right from organising the event with Grace, who was patient, helpful and very understanding, especially in the face of the inevitable changes to the final numbers- to the staff on the day, who were really lovely and made you feel that nothing was too much trouble. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the lady who did our 'do' (corsages) considering one of our number was hideously late due to a nightmare on the tubes, and another of our number (me) is frankly, a liability with a needle and thread, she was totally unflappable, welcoming and patient and not only got everything done in the time, but we all ended up with lovely corsages(yes, even me) Cocktails, cakes and sandwiches were delicious, and I would definitely come back with friends and recommend it to others.
Second party I've attended at Drink Shop Do and this time I hosted it - and both were a great success. Missed out on the more glamorous upstairs room on this occasion but the atmosphere never disappoints wherever you are in the venue. Staff were very friendly and helpful, cocktails were fun and the music neutral enough to suit everyone. The fact that it's so close to the main train stations too mean it's ideal or friends coming from all directions. It's a venue you can stay in till the end! Recommended.
Booked Drink Shop Do for a friend's baby shower and it was a perfect venue with a great atmosphere & helpful staff. We loved the mix of vintage afternoon tea & quirky cocktail bar, which meant we could move seamlessly from Breakfast Teas to Bellinis...And testament to how good it was, I'm now booking my team do there and we have a list going around the office of all the craft events to sign up to. Balloon bending is a winner!
I organised my sisters hen do at Drink Shop Do as we love it there anyway and it didn't disappoint! Organising the event was sooo easy. We made fascinators which is one of the many activities DSD offer. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were booked into the Dome room, which added glamour to our event!
The tables were beautifully set with little tea cups and heart lollies, a really unexpected but lovely touch
I would definitely organise another event here - Thank you
I booked out the Dome Room upstairs for my Birthday do and it was the perfect size for 35+ people. The room was lovely, clean and with really nice furniture. The staff were super friendly and the cocktails delicious. It made for the perfect night out as we were able to go for a dance downstairs too. Saved all my girl friends hobbling round in heels trying to find different venues! Thank you!
I celebrated my 30something birthday at DSD on Saturday and it lived up to the promise of wide ranging music, friendly atmosphere, excellent cocktails and dancing. As a smallish venue it was easy to feel relaxed and the dancing started early. I enjoyed everything about the night.
DSD is one of my favourite places in London. I recently organised a surprise baby shower there for a friend and it was a wonderful evening. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the service was brilliant and the food was delicious. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.
I would highly recommend a visit to DSD. It's a great, quirky venue with a good selection of food and drinks and very attentive staff. I have always been a big fan of DSD and so contacted the venue when I was looking for a venue to host a workshop for the women's career network leadarise.com. We wanted our own space in an informal setting and so the back room at DSD was ideal. The booking system was very efficient and the staff were particularly helpful and friendly on the night.
I decided to have my 25th birthday at DSD, and I was not disappointed - it was probably one of the best birthdays I've had to date! The booking system is quick and easy, with a £50.00 deposit that can be redeemed on the night. I had quite a few guests but the staff were very friendly and accommodating. One of the best things about DSD is the 1920s gin cocktail bar downstairs where you can have a tipple and a dance. I cannot recommend this place enough - most definitely one of my favourite haunts in London.
DSD is one of those nice little places to stumble upon that really make your day in London when you find them. Having found it last summer it's been a very happy and colourful place to hang out for just coffee and cake or some cocktails in their bar downstairs. Recently we also used it for a special occasion and we were very impressed with the non-fuss management of the event at quite short notice and friendly staff. The place itself has such a great atmosphere and personality you don't need to arrange for additional deco and details but you of course you still can! Try the Rose and Pistachio cake - it's a lovely one even if you're a loyal chocoholic like me! On top of that they're so conveniently located near King's Cross too!
A great place to visit for a special event. The staff are friendly and helpful in this vintage style venue. There's no airs or graces just a relaxed cosy atmosphere. The afternoon tea and 'Do' was a great idea for a celebration that allows people to relax and enjoy each others company. I would definitely recommend DSD for a special event but would equally return for drinks another night.
Following a glowing recommendation from a friend of mine and having visited DSD for lunch this summer I decided to have my birthday celebrations here. It was really easy to reserve a table (and free!), every single one of the staff I spoke to were extremely accommodating and my friends and I had a wonderful evening building Lego robots whilst drinking very nommy drinks! There's also a good selection of food for those who are gluten allergic etc as a student, though, it's a little pricey so this is definitely a place to visit on a special occasion.
This place comes HIGHLY recommended. We did a stag do here and wanted something a bit different; they delivered. The place itself is a vibrant and buzzing space located conveniently close to Kings Cross St Pancras (a two/three minute walk). The main space is a high-ceilinged cornucopia of craft pieces, artwork and unique pieces of vintage furniture and furnishings. Before you shelve it into the usual ‘girly crafty’ genre, you realize that the sheer aliveness of the place – combined with it’s terrific menu of cocktails, beers and surprisingly thorough selection of gins - makes it a modern chaps place of choice in Kings Cross. We did two activities; Lego robots and ‘Lionel Ritchie plasticine’. Original and pretty fun activities that made the lot of us feel as if we were back in the primary school playroom – all whilst drinking beer from a teacup. For an alternative stag do, they were a really great alternative to sitting in a pub. To accompany the activities, we had a Mans Afternoon Tea which was, well, pretty manly. Huge, filling sandwiches complete with pork scratchings and a Yorkie bar. Boom. The staff couldn’t be better; the service is quick and friendly, and they really didn’t care that we were a stag group. Too often venues either opt out of taking in stags or treat them with caution. Not here. We were treated like any other person who was there, which was refreshing. To wrap it up, we reserved a space at their club which runs from 8pm. The first great thing about this is that the £50 deposit actually goes straight behind the bar and is then yours to use. Then, although my memory is a tad hazy – again thanks to the selection of gin available – the club really gets going and it is a great place to spend the night. Again, great bar staff here and great music and surroundings. I’d definitely come back here for the club alone, but when you combine it with the afternoon tea and the activities, this is surely the place to go for the best alternative stag do in London. Or just for a good night out. Or for a gin. Or…well, you get the picture. One of London’s best kept secrets. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
I booked a room in the bar area for my 21st birthday. We managed to get around 50 people there, and we had a really great time! DSD offered great value: £50.00 deposit for the room, which can be then used as a drinks tab (I used it for a bucket of beers). There're also options for food and cakes. I loved having the club downstairs - the music (what I remember of it!) was disco, hip hop et al. and proved for a hilarious night! It had loads of people on the Saturday we were there, and the atmosphere was festive.
I booked an area at Drink Shop & Do for my birthday and it was fantastic! The upstairs area is light, quirky and great for conversation. The downstairs bit has a DJ and there were lots of great dance tunes on the night. We just made the last train home and I have very sore feet the whole of the next day as we danced for about 4 hours straight. An excellent venue with a great vibe! I'll definitely go back.
I was really excited to book DSD for my sister’s hen, especially when I saw ‘pimp up your shades’ (our chosen activity) in Time Out magazine as one of the best things to do in London! The whole booking process was really easy from start to finish and Katrine was a huge help, allowing me to pay upfront for everyone which gave me one less thing to organise on the day! There were 25 of us on the hen and for such a large group, everyone on the day was brilliant, drinks were served as soon as we arrived and the activity was really fun. We ended with afternoon tea which was delicious and everyone around the table said they would be telling their friends and coming back!
I booked Drink Sho & Do for a staff night out and we all had a blast. The staff were really helpful in the booking process, always responding to emails right away, and being as accommodating as possible. We chose in advance to do the lego robot building, which was great fun (I'd recommend this to anyone with lego nostalgia), and the buffet that we ordered was plentiful and really tasty. The staff reserved us a table in a semi-private space at the back of the bar which was perfect, and were helpful throughout the night, coming often to see if everything was ok and top up our drinks. The cocktail menu was fantastic - so many unusual mixes and everything we tried was exceptionally good. Overall a great night and wouldn't hesitate to come here again.
I booked Drink, Shop, Do for a friend's hen do, and I couldn't have asked for better service and help with prep before the day, to the bar manager on the night who was checking in with me to make sure everything was ok. Thanks all!
Drink, Shop and Do has been a favourite of mine since it opened but at my recent Birthday gathering, I thought they stepped it up for Afternoon Tea! We had a great time, and I even had 'Happy Birthday' sandwich decorations.
I had an unbelievably awesome 30th birthday party at Drink, Shop and Do this year! What a great place. They even allowed me to push some tables together on a busy saturday night for a few rounds of beer pong! The cocktails are amazing and I love the 50s kitch vibe. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is amazing! Am definitely a regular :)
Delicious afternoon tea, great atmosphere, fun activities and a shop selling lovely things - I only wish I lived closer!
This place is fantastic! I organised my sister's hen party for last Saturday and DSD were more than happy to help me out. We booked an area for 30 (my sister has a lot of friends!) in the Dance area and requested tables as we were joined by the mums of both the bride and groom; these were provided without any problems at all. The cocktails were all delicious and not unreasonably priced for London (about £8.50 a pop). I would have liked to have booked for one of the crafty Do's but alas, we didn't have the budget for that. Everyone had a fantastic time and everyone agreed they would come again (I'm definitely going if only for a cocktail called The Sherbet One which arrives with a Tangfastic on the straw and is actually made with sherbet). I can't recommend this place enough!
A great, stylish, quirky bar with very friendly staff and mad crafty activities available should you wish to, for instance, carve a Rich Tea biscuit with a likeness of Lionel Richie's face (who doesn't?). I reserved an area for my birthday and my friends and I had a blast marvelling at the DJ's crazy mixing - Snap's The Power into Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama really should not work, but oddly it does, and shows how brilliantly unpretentious this place is. My only criticism is the dance floor is a bit pokey and gets way too packed, often making the "Dance" part of "Drink Shop Dance" impossible, which is a shame. Otherwise, its pretty awesome.
Drink, Shop Do is a great venue with excellent staff, yummy food and lots of fun activities! I chose this as one of stops for my friend’s Hen Do and am so pleased I did. The staff were fun and very helpful during my preparations for the day. The venue itself is great for anyone organising a vintage inspired hen do with lots of beautiful crockery, old school furniture and artwork. The food is delicious and we got plenty of it with the afternoon tea. We did garter making which was great fun and let us channel a bit of our saucy side. The instructor was really sweet and very patient with us – sewing while tipsy is very hard! Afterwards we went downstairs to the bar area where we had some great cocktails and had a little dance before moving on. It was a great afternoon and the bride to be had a fabulous time, I highly recommend to anyone organising a hen do or just want a fun day out
Last weekend we went to Drink, Shop and Do as part of my sister's hen weekend. We opted for embroidering knickers and afternoon tea. It was great! The staff were very helpful and welcoming and we all loved the vintage feel of the venue. Lovely china, beautiful decor, good food and wine and great music! My sister absolutely loved it so I would totally recommend it for a hen party activity or just an ordinary day! just one thing, Embroidering knickers in 3 hours whilst eating and drinking is tricky so I would recommend that you choose a simple design unless you can spend longer at the venue! My knickers are fab though!
6 of us recently went to Drink, Shop, Do for a hen do. We had a lovely time making garters and eating afternoon tea in a cool, quirky atmosphere. The afternoon tea was very good, and the staff were really friendly and particularly helpful with the garter making! The booking process was also really easy. I'd definitely recommend Drink, Shop, Do.
EXCELLENT. Great night out. Thumbs up to the music, the vibe, the layout, the club downstairs, the staff, the creative vibe of the venue. I have been several times and just this weekend for my birthday and I couldn't have chosen a better place
I booked afternoon tea and fascinator making for a hen party. It was great fun, the food was delicious and it was a really nice way to enjoy a more "civilized" hen-do! The staff were really friendly and helpful, and they catered for vegetarian and dairy-free dietary requirements. It is a little bit expensive but I haven't found anywhere in London where you can do this sort of thing any cheaper, so I think it's worth it. Overall I would definitely recommend it!
We went to drink shop do for a hen party. We opted for a fascinator workshop followed by a cream tea. Right from the start the staff were professional friendly and informative. On the day itself the fascinator workshop was lots of fun and we all ended up with something pretty. The cream tea was home made and absolutely delicious. We had a gluten free hen and she said it's one of the best gluten free cream teas she's ever had as so few places can cater for her. The atmosphere was friendly and vintage. The whole experience was fantastic, I'd highly recommend this venue for activities and food whether you're going with a few friends or are with a large group.
12 of us went to Drink Shop Do for my sister-in-law's Hen-do, and we LOVED it! The whole booking and planning process was fantastic, Grace was brilliant. The event itself was so enjoyably, the activity (garter making) was well explained to us (by Ash) and really fun. It's a great thing to do on a hen-do. The music and venue make for a laid-back and quirky atmosphere. We can't wait to come back - thanks for a wonderful time!
We went to Drink, Shop & Do for a Hen Party and had a fantastic time. The Hair Fascinator craft lesson was so much fun and simple enough for non-crafty people like me to follow! The Afternoon Tea with a Twist consisted of tasty sandwiches, scones and cakes with a lovely seasonal pear Bellini. There was plenty of food for everyone (1 stand for 2 people). The venue was very fitting and easy to get to and the staff were very friendly, helpful and very patient with a group of 20! We'll all be recommending DSD to everyone :)
We booked one the rooms here (the one with the huge mirror ball) for a 30th birthday and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly or kind. They helped took the stress out of organising it and were really attentive. Drink, Shop, Do also has some amazing cocktails which helped the party along - and an excellent music policy. Couldn't recommend it enough.
I organised our office Christmas party at Drink Shop Do/Dance, and we had a really fantastic time there. DSD staff were very accommodating and helpful, both in advance of and at the event; the room was decorated beautifully, the food was really nice and the DJ/music in the evening was perfectly judged. Our party activity was making reindeer pinatas which was excellent fun. If you want something a bit different, fun and stylish I can't recommend this place enough!
I organised my birthday night out at Drink Shop Dance which is the bar below Drink Shop Do, and I can honestly say it was one of the best nights out we have had in ages! The venue (both floors) is fantastic, perfectly kitsch and unique, with a fantastic cocktail menu, great atmosphere and an amazing playlist! The booking process was very straightforward and Grace was very friendly and accommodating, as were the staff on the night. There is a really fun vibe about this place and it offers a different experience from your average night out in a typical London bar. I am a bit reluctant to write this review as we feel like we've stumbled across a secret little haven, but it's too good not to share!
Was left very disappointed yesterday, many of my friends have told me about Drink, Shop & Do and I thought it sounded ace - finally had a reason to visit and the service was terrible. Too busy being cool - which is such an old London cliche! My cake (Orange & Almond Drizzle) was frankly a bit pants, very syrupy but in a tasteless way but my friends was worse. She had the carrot & walnut cake which had no real evidence of carrot, was a pound more expensive than any other cake and was burnt. I felt embarrassed taking an out of towner there - next time I'll get her to travel and introduce her The Hackney Pearl.
Best kept secret in London. Outrageously kitsch and retro and executed beautifully with a healthy sprinkling of class. The table settings are stunning, the staff go out of their way to assist, and all reasonably priced. I would recommend this venue for breakfast, lunch, dinner or late nights, for corporate, friends or family. There is something here for everyone. Perfect for parties! And they have the best events calendar I've ever seen...:)
Had my 30th Birthday Party here on a Saturday night. Have to say I had a fantastic night. Booked the use of the dome room at the rear of the top bar and used this room all night. Can also speak for my guests that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves too. Only downside had been the bar tab as we wanted to increase the tab (which included the £50 deposit). Although understandable having one receipt to take to the bar everytime someone wanted a drink was a bit unfeasible with a large group. If you are going to offer a tab system then maybe it needs to be more thought out or you just return the deposit at the end of the night. All in all, venue was unpretentious, relaxed and space/music to dance too. Thank you very much for making my bday party awesome.
This is the second time I have been to this venue for a party. Both times we have had use of the Dome Room on the top floor at the back of the venue. It's absolutely beautiful. We held a charity birthday party there for 25 guests and the lighting really adds to the atmosphere to create a lovely evening tea party feel. I would highly recommend this as a place to grab cocktails or have a wee dance downstairs. Definitely get in touch if you want to hire a room. The deposit simply counts against your bar tab so its a win win situation to hire such a fab venue. Highly recommended
Fantastic place for a hen do - really good craft activity making fascinators and wonderful afternoon tea. Staff could not have been more friendly!
Had an amazing night there last night making lego robots! The building is pretty awesome with some great decor - which apparetly changes all the time! Drinks were really reasonably priced and staff were super friendly (not the stuck-up too cool kind.) The club underneaths pretty cool too!
If it weren't for my friends I would have had a terrible time there last night. So many upsetting things happened; a terrible Saturday deposit policy whereby you don't get it back; it's put as part of your bar tab. This created an uncomfortable and awkward situation where I had to go around asking people I don't know very well for money. The extension of one of the tables gave out, breaking a glass full of wine (they did replace it), and the clay they bought for our workshop was the wrong kind. The worst part for me,though, was when they refused to sell me any more drinks, even though I was not acting in any way anti-socially, I could walk and talk perfectly well and I knew what was going on. It was the way they treated me that was so insulting. It was just a NO, they didn't bother to speak to me like I was a proper human being. I was very upset. They also have a policy whereby if you step past the threshold of the little landing outside you are not allowed back in. What's so hard about giving people a stamp? One of my friends went out looking for a cab another one of our friends had ordered; she was barred from going back in to tell her what was going on. This happened in the first place because the bouncer at the door refused to let the cab driver go in and get our friend. I will not be returning any time soon, if ever.
This is in an interesting building but the waiting staff are more interested in looking cool than taking orders or bringing food. The acoustics are horrendous so the cacophony ends up giving you a headache and shouting to be heard. The food is expensive and not good - I suspect it isn't prepared on site.
The service is disorganised, slow and rude. Cakes were stale (not surprising, as they'd been left out on the counter with flies buzzing around them) and the place is a total rip-off. The place is littered with junk shop tat with ludicrous price tags.
I love the food; healthy salads and quiches and giant sized scotch eggs. All of the cakes are really yummy; almond & chocolate cake is amazing as are the custard tarts not flabby but oozing fresh custard and sticky puff pastry, lemon drizzle citrus and not too sweet, and so many more to try... mmm!
We had a great night - such a kitsch place, but it is just very unfortunate that there is such an inhospitable owner. Would have got five stars if she had been more pleasant and accommodating.
