Really nice cosy spot downstairs in the bar, however very overpriced and Sunday roast is rubbish, service is awful and quality of the food for the price is weak, no atmosphere upstairs....disappointing

We came here on Time Out's recommendation one Friday evening before catching a train from Paddington to Cardiff. We were utterly disappointed. We were sitting in the bar downstairs which was very loud and busy but accepted that as it is pub. However, the menu is not that of a pub and neither are the prices! The service was appalling. There was a young girl serving us and she had not a clue about anything. I asked about the menu and she could not tell me about the dishes. I asked for a small glass of wine and I received what looked like a large one. When it arrived I said to the waitress that I had ordered a small glass of wine and she looked blankly at me and said that it was a small glass. She then asked if I wanted her to take it back and I said no that it was fine. I was however charged for a large glass. In short the whole experience was disappointing. The food was at best average and therefore way over priced and the service was sloppy and unprofessional. Not good enough I'm afraid.

Delicious, decadent and interesting menu. A bit cramped downstairs but there's plenty of room on the 2nd floor. Great wine selection with a knowledgable staff. Great for a sunny afternoon in the spring, there's tones of outdoor seating. The only knock is that it a bit too expensive 4/5

nice ambience and food but seating is limited and unless it's quiet it can feel rather cramped.
