I have now been twice and the food is sublime, fresh, seasonal and consistent. The desserts are amazing like a work of art. The wine list gave us some lovely pairings and the staff and friendly and helpful. The décor is very fresh and this is a real gem if you love Italian food and are out shopping on Oxford Street or Regents Street.

Gigi's is a smart Mayfair venue for Italian food with plenty of modern twists, most of them coming from the direction of French cuisine. That combined orientation means that alongside a classic starter of vitello tonnato (cold sliced veal with tuna sauce) you might find both steak tartare and a signature dish of sea bass tartare and langoustine, served with honey and lemon caramel. Among the fish dishes, a traditional fritto misto sits next to an equally traditional (but French) Dover sole meunière. Meat dishes include osso buco with saffron risotto, one of Italy’s most famous dishes, but also innovative creations such as a ‘Trilogy’ of lamb (rack, loin and a braised roll), served with celeriac purée. The dessert list is also a mix of Italian and French.
Gigi's wine list has a larger selection of bottles from France and the new world than you'll find in most Italian restaurants, and in addition to a selection of cocktails (with numerous variants of the Martini) there is a notable selection of liqueurs. You can head outside to the terrace on days or evenings when the weather is fine, and there's a live DJ at weekends.
