Gigi's is a smart new Mayfair venue for Italian food with plenty of modern twists, most coming from the direction of the renowned chef Ivan Simeoli. That combined orientation means that alongside a classic starter of vitello tonnato (cold sliced veal with tuna sauce) you might find golden and red beetroot served with buffalo mozzarella and a signature dish of sea bass tartare and langoustine, served with honey and lemon caramel.

Among the fish dishes is a traditional fritto misto and pasta dishes include an equally traditional linguine with bottarga (dried, salted fish roe) with lemon, chives and celery. Meat dishes include braised veal cheek, one of Italy’s most famous dishes, but also innovative creations such as a ‘Trilogy’ of lamb (rack, loin and a braised roll), served with celeriac purée. The dessert list is a mixture of own-made sorbets and classic Italians like tiramisu and pastiera, the famous Neapolitan ricotta cake.

In addition to its numerous Italian wines, Gigi's list has a larger selection of bottles from France and the new world than you'll find in most Italian restaurants in London. There are classic and original cocktails (with numerous variants of the Martini) and a notable selection of liqueurs. You can head outside to the terrace on days or evenings when the weather is fine, and there's a live DJ from Thursday to Saturday nights.

Bitterly disappointed by the atrocious service we received last Saturday evening. I had purchased the Time Out offer for 4 cocktails at £16 and was welcomed by a very reluctant hostess at the door. After telling her we were a party of 6 with vouchers, she claimed they were fully booked, despite the venue being empty. At first she declined to let us in as we were such a large group, but eventually allowed us to stand at the bar but not to use the chairs. After 5 minutes, as if by magic, one of the empty tables had become free (on the condition that we had to vacate by 9pm) and we were forced to squeeze into a tiny booth at the back. Immediately, the volume of the music was turned up to drown all the “noise” we were making.

We waited 25 minutes before getting our first round of drinks however the order got mixed up. My friend ordered a Jameson Manhattan but was given a champagne based cocktail. When he complained, the waiter became very defensive and the cocktail was whisked away, without a word of apology. We eventually got all our drinks, and nobody claimed the table even though it had gone past 9pm.
We are a group of young professionals, perfectly capable of buying the cocktails full price, however, not getting a designer outfit for such a “special occasion” was very probably our downfall. The staff were terribly judgemental and shot us dirty, disdainful looks every time they walked past our table.
We were made to feel like total low lives. It was extremely embarrassing for all of us. Needless to say, I shall never set foot in that restaurant again, and encourage as many of you to do the same, unless you want to be treated like dirt.
The only silver lining is that the cocktails were absolutely divine, hence the 1 star rating.

Very luxurious and elegant restaurant! I was surprised when found it in such a quiet corner near busy Oxford Street. Service is absolutely excellent. I went there for lunch and got amazing three courses meal with Bellini cocktail just for 20 pounds. To all seafood lovers I would recommend to try Gigi's Sea bass and  everyone should try poached pear from dessert menu. Looking forward to having a dinner with my friends there!

Gigi's was superb - Italian at its best.  The staff friendly and the food is fantastic - i would highly recommend the Burrata, Duck Risotto & Tiramisu.  Gigi's offers a great atmosphere with DJ's at the weekend - so great for groups of friends looking for a bit more than just dinner. Try the cocktails too - cant wait to go back :)

I visited with 4 friends for birthday dinner and we all thought the food was fabulous! Birthday girl had the Beef and it was generous and presented well. I couldn't resist asking for a taste and it was delicious. I had the Crab Linguine, the portion was very good and again delicious. Regarding desert I had Italian Pastiera which melted in my mouth. My friends said their deserts were good too. Really enjoyed the Gigi's experience as the reason we booked the restaurant is because we heard they have a DJ playing in the background and as it was a birthday celebration we wanted to have the option of getting up and dancing if we wanted to.  Such a shame it is tucked away off New Bond St and Oxford Street as the food is really good. It's a very high end decor reminiscent of Cecconi's . The only negative is I wish there could be more choices on the menu. I ordered the crab as my signature dish I usually order in Italian restaurants is the Lobster Spaghetti ....but it wasn't on the menu. The Crab made up for it but it would have been nice to see Lobster Spaghetti on the menu. Wil definitely be going back again! Great value.

I have now been twice and the food is sublime, fresh, seasonal and consistent. The desserts are amazing like a work of art. The wine list gave us some lovely pairings and the staff and friendly and helpful. The décor is very fresh and this is a real gem if you love Italian food and are out shopping on Oxford Street or Regents Street.
