Clever Soho House group; they always seem to know what people want wherever they open in the world, and Chiswick’s High Road Brasserie is no exception. A social chameleon, it transforms from bustling brunch hangout to relaxed all-day dining room (including cakes and sandwiches at teatime) and offers cocktails at the marble bar in the evenings. Menus change seamlessly as the hours go past and it always seems busy, with everyone from families to media types. In summer, the outdoor tables under the generous awning at the front are the place to be. The interior is a stylish mix of modern and retro, with beautiful coloured floor tiles, green leather banquettes, wooden chairs and fabulous light fittings. A crowd-pleasing menu offers bistro classics such as onion soup gratin, coq au vin and steak frites, mixed with Italian and modern British favourites. The pork belly bun, groaning with flavoursome meat and apple sauce, is a must-try. Having garnered strong reviews on opening, the Brasserie suffered a shaky period where service and food standards wavered, but we’re pleased to report that things are back on form.
