This cute little Leather Lane restaurant takes its name from the Thai word for 'eat'. Its menu, though, travels beyond Thai borders to showcase dishes from Japan, Malaysia, China and Vietnam.

Expect, then, chicken katsu curries and miso soup alongside bun cha, hoisin duck spring rolls, som tam salads, nasi goreng, tom yum gung soups, green chicken curry and pork pad krapao - a classic Thai comfort dish of stir-fried minced pork with Thai basil, chillies, onions, green beans and peppers.

The drinks list combines a few old world wines with drinks that geographically match the pan-Asian food - think bottles of Asahi, Chang, Singha and Saigon, various teas and strong, sweet Vietnamese coffee.

KIN says
KIN, meaning ‘eat’ in Thai, opened in December 2011. We’re a small, independent, family-run restaurant offering fresh, tasty, healthy pan-Asian street food at affordable prices. We’re passionate about street food and KIN serves up simple, quick, tasty and authentic dishes from across Asia, from Thailand to Vietnam and China. We've got some great drinks on the menu too, from cocktails such as our lychee mojito to Asian beers, awarding winning green and jasmine teas, Thai iced teas and carefully selected wines that pair well with Asian food. We also offer lots of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options and we deliver locally.

We are a casual, fun and quirky restaurant designed to be warm, comfortable and cosy, with a great atmosphere. Our service reflects this - it's informal and friendly. Although our dishes are simple and tasty, everything is cooked to order. We don't take any short cuts, we don't even own a microwave! For example, our potstickers, our hoisin duck rolls and our wonton dumplings are all individually hand wrapped.

KIN is a great place to visit if you work or live locally and you're looking for a tasty meal, service with a smile and comfortable surroundings. It's great for work lunches, group bookings and romantic meals. We look forward to welcoming you to KIN and hope you have a fantastic experience.

This great modern thai is just down the road from my office, which means I have been there regularly for lunch and dinner and had take away on a number of occasions. The food is always tasty and a good price. At lunch time they have £5 takeaway specials or a £10 starter, main & drink deal. They also have regular specials, most recently they had yellow curry and chilli udon noodles. The decor is cool, in a modern / industrialist sort of way!

Highly recommend for lunch, dinner with friends or takeaway.

On a street known for its eclectic food market, this little Thai café does not fail to uphold the reverence which is associated with Leather Lane!

Cute, minimalist interior with really great staff. The menu is quite varied for such a little place, I opted for the chicken satay and a mixed chicken & prawn pad thai. Portion was very substantial, I had to take half of it home but I foolishly tried to eat as much as I could; I wished I hadn’t the next day cos it was soooo good, left me wanting more!

I work close by and this is a face on the list for our lunchtime hit list. They do a great value set menu for lunch, food is tasty and fresh. I recommend the taste if Thailand menu, Tom yum soup and Thai green curry, yum! They do also have a street food stand with steamed duck and pork buns, they are really tasty, but the incredibly super super slow service often puts me off bothering.

Not the best Thai food in the world but it's still pretty great and always tastes fresh and not oily. Their green curry is delicious and at lunch time is only £5.00 served with rice to take away. Lots of vegan and veggie options too. The noodle dishes are great apart from the pad thai, which I don't think tastes very authentic and is a little on the dry side but everything else is great.

Extremely poor service and mediocre food. I've been a customer twice and never intending to go back. Each experience was utterly disappointing. My first visit was for lunch with friends and we only ordered desserts (banana fritters) but had to wait an hour for it. The server did not submit our order to the kitchen until only half an hour after taking our order. We probably wouldn't have received our order if we didn't request to have our order checked. My friend had to leave due to time constraint after waiting for so long. The manager from Kin did not let us cancel her order and scolded us for complaining. On another occasion, I did a takeaway order for collection on the phone for dinner. The server on the phone was struggling to take my order correctly because her English is poor. She got it wrong anyway in the end and I only found out after I reached home and realise she had given me the wrong dish. I called and requested they rectify their mistake and made my trip back to Kin. After receiving my correct order, the server requested that I pay again for the food. Never eating at KIN again!

Excellent calamari! Great find, really nice atmosphere and great street food. Highly recommended

Nice interiors but unfortunately the food was mediocre.

If you like great food, stylish surroundings and friendly and helpful staff then I would really recommend Kin. Popped in for lunch down Leather Lane and was pleasantly surprised to find this gem! It was such value for money, too- £7 for a decent-sized portion of tasty noodles was the cherry on top. I don't normally go for varied cuisine, and stick to my usual favourites, but so glad I gave this modern twist on Asian food a go.
