  • I love this place to bits. It is family friendly and the staff are attentive. I always go there for Saturday lunch with friends. Beats the village any day - locals know what I mean!!

  • Good value and great Saturday morning breakfast.....with wide range of papers and magazines (including TO). And when the weather is hot, there is a garden to sit in. The staff are friendly and meet all my (un) reasonable demands. There remember my complex order so I just sit down and it turns up, without ordering. A great place to eat in Walthamstow. And it is reasonable price as well.

  • I love this place! The food is amazing & is great value for money. The presentation of different dishes is stunning & to top it off the service is very friendly & profession. We went for my mum's birthday - I have poaches haddock with veg, my dad had the chicken breast both which were great - but my mum picked the best dish, lamb steak which was cooked to perfection. I can't believe Time Out have only given a 3 - I couldn't fault them.

  • La Cafeteria is a treat, I've eaten there twice recently -- one pasta dish, one main meat dish and both were superb, as were the dishes of my companions. I'm not sure what 'cafe-sized' means in the main review, but the portions are very good. It's amazing how a little place like this does so much better than, for example, the dreariness of Strada food, and the fairly awful Zizzi. A paradox of Walthamstow is that, while there are very few modern/eclectic places to eat, they are all good. For me, La Cafeteria is the best place to eat at normal prices in E17. Eat 17 is good cooking, but the portions are silly-small and the prices reflect the Village location. I'd urge anyone who hasn't found La Cafeteria to beat a path to its door. Well done, we love you!

  • Not sure whether we're talking about the same eating spot, but I do happen to live just within the neighbourhood of that friend place, cafe / restaurant and therefore tend to go fairly regurlarly - however, each time, they never cease to amaze me!! Their menu has quite a varied choice of food and their specials also are very inspiring and don't lack creativity! In my case anyway, my tastebuds are always satisfied! - since furthermore their recipes are always so full in flavours, using so many ingredients, spices and freshly cut herbs! Colourful and well-presented dishes also. Fair portions and always-friendly, smiley, greeting staff. I would definitely recommend it to anyone passing by and who's hungry in E17! Undoubtedly surpasses the general quality of cafe food!

  • Not as good as it used to be. Needs to improve on risotto, it is very disappointing. Attention to detail, clean high chairs, better tomato sauce and better trained staff. It is missing out not having fresh pastries every morning and the front door being opened onto busy street is distracting whilst having your early morning coffee. Sorry to moan but they could do so much better.
