Seen from the pavement, La Luna doesn’t look especially impressive. Cross its threshold, however, and you’re spirited into an oasis of calm, miles from the noise and gritty greyness of the street outside. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy, largely because the staff couldn’t be friendlier; as for the food, La Luna is renowned for its pizzas, and a giant, authentic-looking pizza oven has pride of place in the middle of the restaurant. We opted for the pizza of the day, a delicious combination of smoked mozzarella, pancetta and sun-dried tomatoes, and an elegant confection of aubergine, courgette and goat’s cheese; both exceeded expectations. La Luna definitely remains one of Camberwell’s best-kept secrets.
