Lamberts

Four of us went on a Thursday night for a double birthday meal. First time for all of us despite living in Tooting and Balham for many years. What a great place! The decor is a bit uninspiring and it was surprisingly empty for a Thursday night but the food more than made up for these minor negative points. We had a variety of dishes and they were all very good. I had the Salted Longhorn Beef to start and the Middlewhite Pork for main - both TRULY SUPERB. I have honestly never tasted better pork. The service was excellent and very knowledgeable. Prices were very reasonable for this high quality. I look forward to going back very soon.

Tonight I visited Lamberts in Balham with a group of friends and we were all very impressed by the food and service. Personally, I had the Hake, Mussells, Haricots, Black Cabbage and Artichoke Crisps. This was one of the most delicious meals I have ever tasted! My friends had the Steak and Mushroom pie with Mash potato and Tenderstem broccoli, which they also loved. We thought the Mid week set menu was extremely good value for money at £17 for 2 courses and £20 for 3 courses. Overall, we loved this restaurant and will be sharing with our friends, and I felt compelled to write a review as we had such a great time. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Expensive, average food, the lamb was finished by the time we ordered (which they should have said when they brought the menus) and a very uninteresting ambiance. I was really looking forward to this place due to the five stars but what a disappointment.

We've been fans of Lamberts for a long time. Absolutely outstanding food. In many visits, they've never failed to either very-much satisfy or to impress. Even when convincing us to push the boat out on some choices (Oysters Rockefeller were fantastic). The service is very friendly and personable. There is not a whiff of attitude, which can't be said for other restaurants of this caliber. If there's any criticism, it would be that this intimately-small place add another person for service to keep things clicking along a little faster at points.

We visited Lamberts yesterday for the first time after reading about it in the Time Out Top 100 dishes. The meal was outstanding on every level - stunning grilled mackerel with dill cakes starter, roast beef that melted in the mouth (with outstanding creamed horseradish) and a knockout chocolate desert - Dark Chocolate Crema, Espresso Granita, Praline. Friendly service and fantastic value for money. We can't wait to return next weekend

Still the best place to go in SW

Four of us tried Lamberts for the first time on a saturday night. The food is fantastic (pigeon to start followed by lamb) and of a distinctly better quality and higher complexity than what they charge. Excellent wine list: varied and very good value. BUT - service could be better. Whilst nicely relaxed, there was a lack of warmth and interest in our dining experience and lack of enthusiasm in the food that was being served. This was a shame as this is cooking to be really proud of - they just need to create the atmosphere to go with it.

Had a great meal last saturday - certainly the best place in balham we've eaten. Really good food BUT most important - friendly, attentive but relaxed service!

Had dinner here last Friday evening. Found the food to be fantastic, service excellent (available when needed but not constantly hovering) and overall ambience just right for a very smart neighbourhood restaurant! will be back...
