The food here is really good. It is a bit noisy when in the cafe area at lunch - but I'm vegetarian and have loved the food both times, as have my meat eating companions.

The eastern outpost of Fitzrovia’s Lantana is roomier and serves an evening menu as well as the lunch and breakfast dishes Lantana is known for. The stack of corn fritters with crispy bacon, spinach and roast tomato, with avocado-chilli-lime salsa and crème fraiche, is a must-try in both locations. More sizeable mains such as a moreish Asian sticky chicken salad with nuoc cham dressing generally hit the spot too. Good, own-made cakes are baked daily, and often reflect the café’s Antipodean heritage – you might see friands arrayed on the counter.
Weekend brunch is popular, for the easy-going atmosphere as much as the near-perfect comfort food. Such dishes include delicious french toast (a dreamy toasted coconut version with ricotta, lime syrup and pistachio), inventive eggy combos, and specials such as grilled asparagus with black pudding, roast tomato, poached egg and hollandaise on sourdough. Add a generous bloody mary and you’re set up for the day.
Noise reverberates around the industrial space (all exposed pipework and bare walls), but, visually at least, Salvation Jane is softened by a charming collection of mid-century modern bits and pieces. Staff are kept busy, working both the room and the outdoor terrace, but efficiency can tail off at night.

Salvation Jane and the sister, Lantana, are my favourite places in London for weekend brunch. Always great, antipodean coffee and fresh, delicious, uncomplicated food. The later you go, the easier it is to get a table (weekend brunch is served until 3.30pm).
The food IS delicious, no doubt about it, but the take away portions are so mean for what they charge for them and the staff behind the counter often act as if they've been put on a naughty step. I just can't bring myself to pay £7 for half a box of salad and a tiny piece of salmon. My experience of the restaurant has been a lot better on all counts, but the take away counter is bad value considering all the other lunch time options in the area.
Salads great but cakes very disappointing - dry and definately did not taste like baked that day. shame
Food is nice enough but the corn fritters have been soggy both visits now. Service is very slow - in a half empty cafe last weekend it was incredibly hard to get the staff's attention as they were more interested in leaning against the bar. Not good enough when you're spending £40 on two breakfasts!
Wonderful. The pastry of my courgette and goat's cheese tart was meltingly delicious and the butternut squash salad that came with it was a hit as well. The Old Street area has been crying out for a place like this and, although I resisted on this visit, I'll definitely be back to try their amazing-looking cakes. A complete winner.
Salvation Jane has the potential to be great, but needs more staff. Our coffee orders were taken as soon as we were seated (great) but our waitress then seemed to forget about us. The coffee then took 10mins to arrive, which was ok, but no one took our food orders in that time - we eventually waved down another waitress. Our original waitress then delivered our food, after doing several loops of the cafe with our brunches before we waved her down. This was second coffee I've had from Salvation Jane (an Americano) and it seems oddly watery. Our brunches were ok, but my friend's poached eggs had egg shells throughout them and mine were undercooked. The cherry ripe slice looks amazing, and I think I'll stop by for that but pick up a coffee from nearby Ozone and stick to the mighty Workshop Coffee (Cafe St Ali) for the full "Antipodean" brunch experience.
Went there yesterday and had delicious tart and salad. Carrot juice was fresh and funky and the staff were really friendly. You should deffo try it.
I can't believe Salvation Jane only received three stars... It's fantastic - amazing food - amazing service - amazing place! five out of five in my eyes!!
why 3 stars for an otherwise brilliant cafe? What about the excellent coffee too. This seems unfair. It's an excellent addition to an otherwise chain-infested area.
LOVED the food. The corn fritters were seriously tasty - perfectly cooked with a hearty mix of delicious flavours. It's a real winner. And don't leave before you try their Chocolate Guiness cake. It's to die for!! It's one of those independents you'll want to go back to time and time again.
