Look Mum No Hands
Old Street

When you approach the front door, the explanation for the name becomes clear: LMNH is also a cycling shop. The big room is decorated on a cycling theme, and is clearly much loved by locals. On Saturday lunchtime there was standing room only, with what looked like half the residents of EC1 (singles, couples, families with young children) packed in to eat and drink.

We can see why they love the place, even with so much competition nearby. There’s a large selection of food, including serious cooked dishes of a kind not attempted by most coffee bars, as well as the more usual salads and baked goods. The baristas know their business and take pride in doing it right. Most beans are from Square Mile, but there are guest coffees too. Espresso is perfectly made, and milky drinks are well presented. No effort is made to rush dawdlers, even when there’s high demand for tables. Look, Mum – total relaxation.

Great coffee. The atmosphere is great and it is nice to have somewhere with a theme, but one that isn't overbearing. The cycling shop angle gives the place character. We went at the weekend and it was very busy but there are lots of tables. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here.

For someone who wants the metropolitan to be greener, fresher and more efficient, a place that promotes biking culture and make cycling not only practical and cheap, but also COOL way to get around the capital get few stars before we even get to take a look at the menu! But Look Mum No Hands is by no means just for cyclists, as it ticks all the boxes of a great café in central London – delicious food, fast Wi-Fi, comfy sofas and a good sense of humour about the way the place is run!

One note – why, just why are they not doing a latte?!

Horrible milky tasteless coffee!! I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried multiple times as I live nearby but it is consistently awful coffee!! The nail in the coffin is that I tried the big breakfast here and it was absolutely disgusting - watered down eggs, soggy bread and sloppy uncooked bacon. I saw a few people trying to politely finish their eggs and cannot believe this place doesn't have bad reviews?! Definitely not worth visiting, although people seem to like to hang out here, don't come here for the coffee or food!!!

Such a good cafe. Huge, sofas, wi fi, power points. Full of bikes and poncy hipsters on Macs. Amazing coffee that you will pay an arm and a leg for (soya latte = £3.35). Pies are good too, and salads. Sausage sandwich a godsend when hungover, ditto coconut water. Cakes are also incredible. Have I sold you on it yet? It's also open late and sells beer.
