  • I love this restaurant and have never complained before. However on Saturday I visited with my family. There was about 10 of us. Having a set meal is always tricky I think. 6 people ordered the prawns for a starter. The first 3 that arrived was great, hot as you saw the steam, the second 3 were all cold, dry a lot smaller and had no sauce and had very little resemblance to what I was use to. I suppose they were sat there waiting for someone to order and we drew the short straw. The curry coconut chicken that I had was nice as usual but could have had more curry coconut sauce like when you order from the normal menue. Set menue's are not always the best

  • Went for a friends birthday, about 25 of us and we were given an upstairs room. Found the whole experience from start to finish, very good. The food was, although not real Caribbean, really rather tastey!! Okay so the service was not spot on, but 25 of us and only one waitress, would never be a fast and efficient service! I would and will be going again in the hope that with just 2 or 3 of us service will be better and the food standard remain high!!!

  • Very small portions, service extremely slow, ok Caribbean food will never live up to the real thing. And pricey.

  • Having taken my girlfriend to Mango rooms for her birthday, we were somewhat upset at the level of terrible service from the waiters, the extremely small portions of food, the dirty walls and torn table cloth on our table. We were not greeted when the first waiter took our order (we were served by 3 different people in total) The 2nd make waiter was unshaven, looked dirty, unkept hair, and tatty t shirt and jeans, not the level of attire you would expect from a restaurant who include a 12% service charge on your bill. Whilst my main dish, curry goat was nice, I had to order rice separately at £3 for a tiny bowl, of which I finished a long time before eating the curry goat. My main dish in total was £16 JUST FOR CURRY GOAT?? as for my starter of tempura fish, it was to tiny slithers of fish with 3 droppings of sauce, not worthy of £7.50. My cocktail was watery, and to get anyone's attention for service was like waiting for a night bus, in the rain, with flip flops, in the winter - JUST REALLY SHITTY. When we left, no-one acknowledged us, didn't ask us how was our meal, or even say goodbye. Plus as a Jamaican, and a good cook myself, I did not find the menu authentic, as Never in my life have I been served a Jamaican meal with pineapple before??? RUBBISH, would never go back, RIP OFF, CRAP SERVICE.

  • I've been to Mango Room on numerous occasions and only come back for the food which is delicious, especially the goat curry. Sadly, I can't say the same about service, every time I went the service was appalling- slow, inattentive and rude. On one occasion my friend and myself got shouted at by a manager who thought we came in from the street just to use the toilet. Shocking!

  • I ate here last year with work colleagues for our Christmas dinner. I will soon be celebrating my 30th birthday and thought I'd love to bring my family to Mango Room as I had been really impressed on my first visit. The ambience is lovely, the food was great, service amazing. However I am no longer impressed by Mango Room. I phoned them 2 weeks ago to make an enquiry for my birthday and to this date the manager has not bothered to call me back. I find this highly unprofessional. I mean do you not want my money? Evidently they don't. It's fine though, I've booked somewhere else and me and my party of 30 will enjoy eating at The Terrace in Wimbledon instead.

  • Currently eating in the restaurant (1st June 2012, 21:22) and the mere fact that I am online writing a review, whilst still in the restaurant represents the high dislike I have taken to my meal. For my starter, I ordered Ebony Chicken wings with chilli . When the dish came out I was surprised with its lack of taste, it wasnt presented well, and appeared like roast chicken although the restaurant boasts of being a "Traditional & Modern Caribbean Resturant". I am black British, parents come from Jamaica and St. Lucia and the food was not up to standards at all. I would not recommend to people from a caribbean decent, although to the locals the meal is a step up. The meat was still a little red in the middle and the flavour, what flavour? It was absent in this dish. I would have been satisfied with Morleys or even KFC. (Morleys SW London fast food) This put me off my main meal. For my main meal I ordered Snapper with garlic and pineapple sauce. This was not a true representation of what a REAL traditional Caribbean cook or chief can do. If you want a mouth watering meal, head down to Thronton Heath,CR7 and taste the heart and sole of the Caribbean. The fish was left on my plate, and all I had to line my stomach was a couple pieces of bread. Oh before I forget, the plantain was the best part of my meal. Our entire table prob will spend somewhere between the region of £180-£250, and I will be stopping somewhere on the way home to grab a takeaway.

  • I was at the The Mango the other night, it was my second time and I was again I love this place this time I had the sea cassarole, which was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The cocktails were good too, they had all the best classics. Along with the old school reggae tunes it creates the perfect fusion of contemporary and traditional atmosphere. Staff were really lovely and friendly too. I will be returning very soon.

  • I went to Mango rooms over the weekend and was truely shocked but the poor service. The waitresses took a long time to serve our drinks and served tables witht eh wrong orders and just shouted out for who ordered which drink....very unprofessional. The portions of food were very small given that it is £25 pounds for a three courses meal. Many of us chose the same main courses and so they lumped our rice and plantain in teh same bowl. the waitresses dropped a couple plates and knocked over wine glasses on our tables. Our late guests were told they were unable to recieve thier starters but still ahd to pay for the 3 courses. the late guests receivec thier food within 3 minutes (microwaved the curry goat). the curry goat was not fantastic (better off going to a takeaway shop). They also charge 12.5% service charge for thier awful service and to top it off we were told to a the beginning of the meal (7pm) that we had to be out by 9pm. It was upsetting given that I have been waiting to go to Mango Rooms for a very long time.
