Welcome to Purple Thai – South Woodford
Our goal is to provide beautifully presented Thai cuisine in a contemporary and sophisticated setting.

The menu is deliberately unfussy , a collaboration between our Thai National chefs and ourselves and we hope shows a desire to move away from the usual Oriental fusion.

We have a specials board that shows the real flair of our very experienced chefs and this will change frequently.

At the weekends we benefit from a late license, allowing our diners to enjoy the Purple Thai experience of food, bar and music in equal measure. So don’t be surprised to find the latter being turned up a notch or two as the evening wears on!

I've just recently visited Purple Thai and I was pleasantly surprised - simple, clean and stylish decor. The food was really tasty, very authentic tastes and flavours and portion sizes reasonable enough for main dishes to be shared by two. The staff were friendly however I'm not sure they understood our orders the first time as another colleague came back to check the order was correct. However I did find it very expensive compared to other local Thai places and may not re-visit due to this.

I love Thai food normally, when i visit different locations i always head for the Thai Restaurants, I like my usual, Fish dish and Broccoli, so iask for Sea Bass dish together with a portion of broccoli in oyster sauce with jasmine rice, all was fine when i ordered at the Purple Thai in south Woodford. After 15mins was told they have no Broccoli the owner or Staff try to tell me it's out of season, okay i said please could i have a dish with vegetables, we only have green beans and green peppers which i accepted. I was absolutely appalled when i saw my fish it looked like it was frozen, deep fried and burn't with hardly any fish on there , the tail end was so hard, i had take it back out of my mouth, it was so dry. Sorry to say it was digusting the worse Thai fish dish i have ever had , surely it can't just be me, it was really bad, enough to put me off Thai food but luckily i do know some good ones are around. My vegatable's arrive when i almost finished my main course. I would definitely not recommend this Restaustant the seabass dish was £14.00 i dont mind paying more for decent fish, my partner's chicken dish was alwful, rock hard with no taste.

Great night with friends. Lovely food , really friendly people and good music later on. First visit but we'd go back. Handy location between the cinema and the tube so no cabs - bonus. I have allergies to nuts and shellfish but it was just not an issue. Thanks guys, good effort !
