Behind a cheery green shop-front a few doors from the Angel tube traffic junction, this well-lit spot combines restful design with good food. It’s less busy than it deserves, and so is a perfect daytime venue to gather your thoughts or chat with a friend. What makes it unusual is that the sushi chef, from Vietnam, produces dishes that a neighbourhood joint in Tokyo would be proud of. Flagship of the sushi plates is the Sa Sa deluxe, which combines a tasting of salmon and tuna sashimi with an enticing set of nigiri – in which the tai (sea bream) and hamachi stood out as particularly fresh and clean – and a skilfully made maki of warm deep-fried soft-shell crab. The umami taste rang through an excellent nasu dengaku (grilled aubergine with miso sauce), while salmon teriyaki comprised two good slices, grilled just right. Though desserts were uninspiring, green tea was of a high quality, and service was prompt and helpful.

Hello there! Well, what can I say about myself? I'm a fairly laid-back & tolerant person overall. I work as a civil servant, often indulging in...

With very friendly service, giving the restaurant a neighborhood feel, the SaSa team prepare some of the best sushi in town. It's delicious and affordable. You can find the sushi basics plus some interesting maki creations. This restaurant also delivers very quickly and free of charge.
Outside the door it explicitly says "authentic Japanese" food. Well, if this is supposed to be authentic, the poor person running this place hasn't been home for many years. Watery green tea of poor quality. Miso soup that taste worse than ready made stuff you get in the supermarket. The shrimp and mackrel in my sushi had tastes of (wine) vinegar, indicating that it was anything but fresh. Unfortunately, the rice for the sushi did not contain any (rice) vinegar, making the taste generally bland. I would have given them 2 stars, because of a slight effort in creating an atmosphere, but because they claim to be "authentic", unfortunately its a 1 star.
the best sushi place of london... Everyone I take to sasa never wants to eat sushi anywhere else... Staff really helpfull and attentive! It deserves a much higher star rating by time out!! I suggest another visit and you will not stop going! Crunchy tuna to the more well known california roll are all excellent!
I popped in here on my own on a saturday lunch and I was made to feel very comfortable. Delightful staff and I had one of the lunch specials with green tea. Thoroughly delicious. Looking forward to a repeat visit.
Excellent food, resonably priced, great chef and staff. Highly recommended but need to book in advance for weekends.
I have eaten in many sushi restaurants in London, and this one wins hands down when talking about service, atmosphere and most importantly - quaility of food. Only thing to mention is to book in advance, as it is a super popular restaurant!
I have been to this restuarant many times and love sushi. Very high quality of food and great friendly service.
I live in Islington and I love Japanese food. I have been to this restaurant many times since it was opened. The food is excellent!!! The chef and the waiters are very friendly. Although the service gets a bit slow and can get orders wrong when they have the restaurant busy. I am very happy we have this resturant in the area now as before our only choice was either Itsu or Ah-So, restaurants that I never recommend.
