Eat in or take away at this new Bankside spot, which seems to have all the right ingredients to become a hit chain. Organically farmed cod, Cornish crab and salmon skin feature on the sushi menu, but there are also salads (such as octopus, cucumber and ginger), teriyaki bentos, and good katsu curries.

This place is a gem, they have delivered to our offices a few time and have always been polite and helpful. The prices beat Feng Sushi hands down and the food is great!
Tsuru was a nice little surprise for a Saturday evening around Southwark. The service was warm and welcoming. We ordered a Scallop and Tiger prawn, and a Chicken Kara-age side. The food was really fresh and tasted amazing. It was decently priced too. I look forward to eating there again.
This is one of my local restaurants, and one of the best in Borough by far as far as general cuisine goes , let alone specialised Japanese food. The only other competition in it's genre is Feng Sushi, and that place doesn't even come close to the prices, standards, atmosphere & service of Tsuru. It's a real treat to be able to go somewhere where everything is so fresh & tasty, especially somewhere so convenient to where I live.
Staff are always amazing, they have Asahi on tap (what more could you want, really?) and vegetarian options are to die for.
Tsuru has become a staple for me. I work right around the corner and find myself back at Tsuru at least 3-4 times a week. I'm Japanese and grew up in Ca. and I missed my Japanese fix when I moved to London. I was thrilled when Tsuru opened as it gave me many authentic Japanese dished to choose from. Everything from the Curry (which is actually close to mom's curry), Karage, and Hijiki Salad. The staff are great and always welcoming. They got to know me by name right away and I always feel very looked after while I'm there. I hope you all support Tsuru, as I hope it remains a Southwark staple and hopefully even more will pop up around London. scene.
Food is great - have to try the Katsu curry and everyone is always friendly whenever I go in. I often walk all the way from Farringdon to come over for lunch, far better than the usual bland sushi you get everywhere else in London
I couldn't disagree with Nomadnz more. I eat at Tsuru every 2 weeks or so and the staff have always looked very happy and have treated me really well.
The sushi is as good as I have had at the best Japanese restaurants I've been to (and I've been to a lot). The prices are not very high and perfectly fine for the quality of the ingredients. If you want lower prices and are not bothered about good quality then Yo Sushi is probably more your thing.
I really couldn't recommend Tsuru more. In my top five things to do around Borough.
great fresh produce and really interesting menus - lots of variety and a relaxed fun atmosphere... nice to see a small independent developing some innovative nights with live music etc. definately one of my favourites for after work
Don't know what Nonadnz is talking about. I've always found the service to be great here [as well as the food].

Tsuru is a breath of fresh air in brand-loaded Canvey Street: the food is always fresh and flavoursome (sourced locally from nearby Borough Market I believe), the staff friendly and knowledgeable and the venue itself is small yet perfectly formed; great for an intimate Tokyo-inspired lunch or supper. It's also wonderfully independent so give it a go!
I love this place, the food is great- well presented, fresh and very tasty. I really enjoy the atmosphere too, the interior is well designed and welcoming and the outside area adds to the relaxed feeling of this place. The staff are always friendly and the service is good. My friends and I have been back to this place loads of times and always enjoy the experience.
