This sweet French restaurant is an ideal option for a budget meal in a charming setting. The rustic dining area, cosily lit by dripping candles, is frequently packed, but don’t assume you can’t get a table as there’s a second dining room on the first floor. The majority of the menu follows the classic French bistro theme, but there are a few surprise combinations thrown in. Starters (all £3.95) such as chèvre chaud, moules marinière and foie gras are complemented by less Gallic fare such as deep-fried squid. Mains included a pleasing lamb shank with rosemary jus (choose it over the entrecôte grillée which was average by comparison), as well as seared mackerel with beetroot, fennel and lime pickle, and roast pork with black pudding. Desserts might be the ubiquitous crème brûlée, or the more unusual roast rhubarb with basil ice-cream. Anyone on a budget has little to complain about here – an imaginative selection of dishes, cooked to a reasonable standard, at amazing prices, with wine from £10.45.

I'm Romain, a 20 years old french guy who's just arrived in town. I'm here for working, actually it's an internship, part of my engineering...

Bad food, very bad service, bad decor. I waited one hour to be served with rudness
It is my favorite place in Islington. A very affordable neat place that serves French food (no frogs legs though!). Great friendly staff and value is much more than what you pay!
Simply the best combination of value and honest, incredibly tasty French food in London. No pretense, no brand, just cheap, delicious food - the perfect antidote for a chained-out Londoner...!

I love this restaurant - everything is reasonably priced and it has a cosy, relaxing atmosphere. I have eaten here regularly for many years and have never been disappointed. The menu never gets boring as there are always a number of specials that vary each time and which don't feature on the usual menu
Our friends frequent this restaurant a lot so one evening we decided to make RESERVATIONS for a party of 8. At the time of booking this reservation, they did not notify us of a second booking right after us. We arrived on time for our reservations at 7pm and they still did not tell us there was a booking at 9pm.They took their sweet time in delivering our food--which our mains were COLD! Moreover, they were so rude and slow with our service. We were waiting for them to take our dessert order and instead, they served us our bill and told us they need the table back immediately. This place needs to learn the value of customer service. Perhaps they can learn a few things of the hospitality trade. They just lost repeat customers.
