London's best review, food and drink news
There can be few better places for culinary tourism in London. True, the surroundings are prosaic: the ground floor canteen of an office block. True also, the food is liable to be lukewarm if you arrive more than ten minutes after kick-off. Long-simmered curries are the best bet. At lunch, simply take a tray, point to what you'd like, and pay at the till; then take your booty to a table, which you might share with office workers (Indians and others). At dinner, pay for your set meal in the entrance hall, then hand your chitty to the cooks. Communal bowls of rice and dahl are ready at the table. Most of the diners are Indian students and the set dinners change daily.
