We like Myung Ga. It could be something to do with the laid-back, post-work, pre-theatre vibe or the zippy service provided by the young, enthusiastic waiting staff. The restaurant is hemmed in by pubs and bars on Kingly Street and Beak Street, so it gets extremely busy in the evenings; make a booking for dinner or face a long wait. We came straight from work and our starter – kimchi and a basket of fried goonmandu (beef dumplings) – arrived at the table within seconds. This was rapidly followed by an enjoyable beef sirloin barbecue, cooked fresh at the table and served with a sesame oil, salt and pepper dip, and a sizzling platter of dak bulgogi (spicy chicken barbecue), prepared in the kitchen to avoid overloading the extractor fans. The menu includes plenty of soups, stews and hotpots but most people come for the grills. Make a meal of it by ordering four or five cuts of beef, pork or chicken for the barbecue. Another plus point: the toilets are probably the cleanest in Soho.

I was taken to this restaurant for my birthday as I had been going on to my girlfriend about how good Korean food is after my visit to Korea. I was expecting it to be a plastic Korean in London but how wrong I was!!! This was Korean at the core, amazing service, amazing food and amazing company for my birthday, I HIGHLY recomend this for ANYONE! For anyone who has'nt eaten it before, I'd describe it as Chinese crossed with Mexican & BBQ, if you like all 3 which most do you will LOVE this!!! :o) 6 stars out of 5! ;o)
I have to say I was a bit worried initially by the neon China town style front to this restaurant when i first got there but this swiftly disappeared when I got inside and was very politely seated. It was pretty quiet being a Tuesday lunch time so service was very prompt and attentive. I'm sure it's like this at busier times as well.
The menus were a little confusing to a Korean food novice so we opted for the set lunches. I had the thinly sliced beef which was cooked on the burner set into the table.
Boy it was very, very good! My companion had the salmon which was also very good.
All in all a very pleasant introduction to Korean cuisine. I will be going back to try other dishes.
The food at the Myung Ga is simply outstanding. The kimchi pancakes are worth a try- delicious. We had 2 beef dishes cooked in front of us and were disappointed when we finished them!! Absolutely scrumptious! Finished off with some complimentary fruit which was a perfect end to the meal. Meal cost about £40 for 2 of us, including drinks - a bargain! Best meal of our trip by far.
