We were lucky to get a seat at Myung Ga on a busy Friday night, but the food was well worth the wait. This is one of the more accessible Soho Korean restaurants, attracting plenty of theatre diners among the Korean and Japanese regulars. Inside, its bright and busy, with staff in red bow ties zipping around with platters of chapchae and stone bowls of bubbling chigae and bibimbap. Tables are separated by etched glass partitions, but the atmosphere is animated rather than intimate. The menu is built around Korean favourites rather than rare delicacies. Battered deep-fried vegetables (pepper, carrot and potato) were assembled into birds nest-like bundles with a zingy soy dip, providing a clean, starchy counterpoint to the meaty flavours of the barbecues lean strips of rib beef and punchy daeji (spicy pork) with rich flavours of caramel and chilli. A set of mixed kimchi on the side ticked all the boxes: well-steeped pickled cabbage, radish and cucumber with a generous chilli heat. Dont be put off by the bustle and the smoke from the barbecues; food here is better than it needs to be.

The food at the Myung Ga is simply outstanding. The kimchi pancakes are worth a try- delicious. We had 2 beef dishes cooked in front of us and were disappointed when we finished them!! Absolutely scrumptious! Finished off with some complimentary fruit which was a perfect end to the meal. Meal cost about £40 for 2 of us, including drinks - a bargain! Best meal of our trip by far.
