London's best review, food and drink news
The attraction at this pizza joint – commonly known as Icco – is the large, cheap pizzas. It's certainly not the service: you queue at the counter, pay your money to the unsmiling staff, and – if they haven't lost your chit, which can happen – your name will be called out ten minutes later when the order's ready. Or at least, something will be called out; whether your name is Tom, Cath or Ali, the caller, a small woman with a nasal voice and suspect English, invariably sounds as if she's saying ‘Plub'. The pizzas are big and thin-crusted, maybe a bit soggy, but then what do you expect for £3.50? The coffee's pretty good, and if you don't mind the noise (traffic noise through open doors, and ambient clatter), it's a fine place to fill up for a fiver.
