    Budget choice
  • There aren't many places in London where you can buy an entire sea bass, cooked to perfection, for under a tenner or dine in such surreal surroundings. Bintang's inimitable decor incorporates plenty of bamboo and a few tribal masks, topped off with what looks like a decrepit, fairy light-draped beach shack along one wall. The cooking is a revelation, from chanai puri puri deliciously light discs of batter, with delicately-spiced lentil filling to plump and spicy king prawns with lime leaf and galangal. But sea bass is the undisputed highlight, marinated and oven-baked in the sauce of your choice rich, fragrant bintang sauce is perfect if you don't like things too hot. With warm and welcoming staff and candlelit tables, it's a romantic place to linger over a bottle of wine; on hot evenings, head for the garden.

When we arrived we found that as we were a big group we could only order from a set menu that was more expensive than the a la carte, inspite of the fact that we had called the day before to book. Also took more 45 mins to take our order. Not good for groups.

The food from here is absolutely divine, great service as well. I had the mussels as an entree and prawns for my main. My friends meals look fab as well. Will be back

This is my favourite restaurant in London, it's BYO on beer or wine, the portions are huge and reasonably priced and the staff cannot do enough for you. The location is perfect, set back from the mad hub of Camden, and if you get a table in the garden you could bee anywhere in world. Love it!

Lovely restaurant. Charming staff. Beautiful garden setting with good value , deliciously cooked sea bass in delightful variety of sauces all served in a banana leaf.
Would def return to check out other delights on the menu as well as overindulge on their 3 course set meal for something like £7.99! bargain!
Only complaint is their pots of herbal tea are huge so no need to order one per person. One pot could give tea for three!!
