This Tamil caff is inside a basic shop unit with Tamil satellite TV blaring over strip-lit tables. Takeaway, therefore, is very popular and prices are absurdly low. The menu's a comprehensive selection of Sri Lankan veg and non-veg dishes, covering all the classics from string hoppers through richly-spiced seafood dishes to sothi. We're fond of the kuttu roti, strips of thin bread fried up with mutton or vegetables to make a spicy biriani-like dish. As an alternative to ordinary rice, try the pittu: rice flour and coconut steamed in bamboo to make a starchy log'. Snacks are fine too, and with a mutton roll (a Sri Lankan version of a spring roll) costing only 60p, you'll be back for more.
